It wasn't quite a one hit wonder and took them a bit before she was successfully knocked up. Which was why this was such a dumb idea. Not her dumbest ever as that had been at age five when she had thought she could fly but this had to be somewhere in the top seven dumbest ideas of her life.
What kind of idiot agreed to foster a toddler and infant while she had her own whirlwind of a toddler and was seven months pregnant.
The kind of idiot who had a soft heart and in-laws who were absolute, God sent angels right up the road, that's who. The one who had the worlds's sweetest husband, though she wasn't quite sure she'd forgiven him for getting her pregnant with twins.
She wanted Finn's children, yes, but she'd prefer them to come one at a time. Forgiven or not, he had to be the world's most awesome husband and expectant father. During the first trimester, he'd continued his travels with no changes. During the second trimester, he'd stuck to the United Kingdom and now, into the last third of pregnancy, he'd barely travel more then a few counties away.
Then again, he'd been the one to actually encouraged her, and by extension his self, to be emergency caregivers. This apparently counted as an emergency. It really was of course. A neighbor of the children's mother had spied the woman tossing her newborn out. A call to the child services office had led to an investigation and that had turned up the toddler.
She hadn't been able to say no and now she had a abnormally quiet and still little girl, the complete opposite of her Emily, in her house. The infant, a boy, was still at the hospital but she assumed he be brought along in a short time. She knew that child services had found an uncle to the two children and, since he seemed a stand up guy, was trying to contact him.
Ellie harrumphed and crossed her arms. She'd have Finn take a closer look at him once he got back. She was slightly suspicious since he, a reportedly stand up good-guy, had never made any attempt to contact his sister. She couldn't put her finger on it but something fishy was going on.

Colby Macomb was vastly annoyed by his mother. It wasn't easy to be annoyed with a deity but annoyance came easily for the son of Eris. He, perhaps more then most, was not exempt from his mother's meddling. He stared across the limo's back seat at the goddess. He glanced down at the file folder in his lap. "I have agents to handle international issues, you know."
"The infant you assigned to the United Kingdom is too wet behind the years to handle second generation as well as the mortal legal system."
"If they're second generation, why can't they go to Olympus?" Most misplaced demi-gods that close to their divine ancestor were sent to Olympus for rearing.
"Second generation Zeus. The mother has barely managed two decades of life. Hera gets a little twitchy at so recent a reminder if an affair."
"I have other agents."
Eris just hmmmed, sipped her drink and stared out the window of the car. Colby sighed and glanced through the file. His thought process came to a halt at the name of the emergency foster parents. "Finn MacKenna?"
"Yes, I believe that's the name of one of the foster parents. Why?"
"Finn MacKenna, as in Finnegan MacKenna who is the son of Declan and Misaki MacKenna?"
"Yes?"
"As in the Finnegan MacKenna who, a century ago, have a very intense, very torrid affair with one Carey McKay? The Finnegan MacKenna who then had to witness the very traumatic and public murder of Carey McKay when the residents of Cork caught them together? That Finnegan MacKenna?"
"Yes, Colby, that Finnegan MacKenna. What of it?"
"A century ago, I went by the name of Carey McKay and took the punishment to spare his life."
"Oh, I didn't know."
"Like hell you didn't know. What the hell are you thinking, having me show up on his doorstep? He's married! To a woman!"
Eris shrugged. "I want you to be happy, Darling, and you were happiest a century ago."
"May I reiterate, married to a woman."
Eris gave her son a blank look. "So?"
For someone not a shifter, Colby managed a impressive growl that had Eris laughing and winking out of the car.
Hours later, Colby stared up at the younger MacKenna household and wished for the ability to change his appearance. Finnegan was not going to react well to the spitting image of his long dead, horribly murdered lover on his porch. Deeming it best to get it over with as soon as possible, he clomped up the stairs and knocked on the door. Naturally, it was Finnegan who answered. "Mr. MacKenna? I'm Colby Macomb. I'm here to pick up my niece and nephew."
