Jahaziel was releaved to hear that she was okay. Now that he was actually awake and not so on edge about how Aeven was doing, he could sense the shift in her. The Custos side of her had taken control, and a part of him wondered if it was because it had been supressed for so long. It didn't really matter in the end, anyway, because she wasn't going anywhere unless she made the decision to leave herself.
He was going to ask her if she felt up to eating anything, the silence getting to be a little much for him, but she spoke up, asking about visions. Ziel frowned a bit, wanting to let her rest and recover some of her strength before they discussed this, but he answered anyway. "Not visions of my own, but yes. They were quite strong, probably more so because of the situation. Do you remember them?"

At Jahaziel's admission that the visions hadn't been his, Aeven winced inwardly. She had been the one to get him that exhausted. When he asked if she remembered them, she nodded and answered, "Most of them but I'm not sure which ones were dreams and which ones were actually visions. I don't know when the pain stopped but once it went away so did the dreams, or visions, or whatever they were."
As she spoke, Aeven tried to sort out all the images and strings of conversation that had taken place while she was being overrun by the pain. Up until this point in her life, Aeven's visions came to her one at a time, not in swarms, so her skills at untangling the different things she remembered were not quite what she needed.
Feeling defeated by her own tangled mind, Aeven sighed and mumbled, "Its all in knots. I'm sorry Jahaziel..." She hoped that maybe he would be able to help her with meditation or something later.
If he still wanted to, and was allowed to, that is. Worry suddenly surged through her and Aeven gripped his hand a little tighter, "Does anybody else in the House know about... what happened with me? Are you still going to be able to teach me?" She tried not to sound panicky, but she couldn't hide the worry in her eyes.
This House, this life, was all she could really remember and if she had to leave either behind, especially now, she wasn't sure what she would do with herself. She couldn't just wander around Heaven now considering her heritage, and she couldn't very well go wandering around Hell either. She didn't know anything -about- Hell. She'd probably get eaten by some evil monster within seconds of setting foot down there... And even if she did survive long enough to find somebody who could take her to her father, what was she supposed to do, walk up and say "Hiya Dad!" and give him a hug? Not likely.

Salut pulled the thick comforter around her shoulders and shuffled into the living area of her new quarters. Which were far away from the healer's wing. Infact, she would only treat children and women from now on, by the orders of lady of the house. Salut plopped herself down on the couch and sighed. Not that she was doing any healing just now. The lady had allowed her to be off duty for several wings. She hadn't ventured outside of her new rooms since she'd moved in.
She'd let people in, Mostly Kiel whenever he came to check on her. In fact, she was just down the hall from the twins now, given that the children could often been found going to one of them before seeking out a healer. Having a healer within the same area would help. She'd also let Greyson in, mostly because females held no attraction for the man, preferring his own gender then hers. She felt quite comfortable around him.
When a knock sounded against her door, Salut pulled the comforter tighter and shuffled over. She pulled open the door, just a tad, and then stood back to allowed Kiel into the room. "Hi," she said while shuffling back to her couch.

Ziel nodded, listening as she spoke about the confusion between dreams and visions while going through her test. It was to be expected, of course, and not only because she hadn't been fully trained in that aspect yet. He was sure and experiance like Aeven had just gone through could throw anyone off, especially as it happened so young. "I can help you sort all those out, if you like. Once you're feeling up to it we can work on meditating and reflecting on them."
He, himself, had held on to what he'd been shown by the girl while she was out, but some of them were jumbled and half finished on their own. When the grip on his hand tightened his brow creased once more with worry. Ziel couldn't help but let his lip quirk up in a tiny smile. She was so worried, but she didn't need to be, not as he saw it. "So far only Ezekiel, Salut, Greyson, and I know. I asked Greyson not to mention it to the lord and lady of the house yet. I want to consult them on that personally."
His free hand slipped over to pat the small hand clasped with his. "And don't worry, they wouldn't make the only student I've ever agreed to teach leave the house. They will most likely insist that you not help with the children until they can be sure you are in control of your newly awakened powers, but with help from Kiel that shouldn't take long." He wasn't going to push the issue of her father. Not yet. He wanted Aeven to get back to herself and perhaps untangle a few of her own visions before he brought that up. And besides, he was a little leery about telling her that he knew her father, especially because she'd ask him -how- he knew the Custos.
***
Ezekiel had been quite pleased when he'd heard the lady of the house's decision reguarding Salut. She would get time off to allow her own body and mind to heal, and when she did start healing others again her only patients would be children and women. Salut had also been moved to different quarters, only right down the hall from the suite he shared with Ziel, so he was able to stop by and check on her often.
He was sure he must have been annoying her with as many times as he had stopped by in such a short amount of time, but he couldn't help himself. Kiel was worried about Salut and he wanted to make sure no one was bothering her while she got herself settled.
It was nearing lunch time, and he had already checked to make sure the house was getting itself organized again after the attack, so he had swung by the kitchen to grab a full tray of food. His intention was to bring it by Salut's room, as she hadn't left since moving there and she didn't really let servants in. Ezekiel shuffled the tray around outside her door to free up a hand to knock, waiting until she opened it. When she did, and left the door to open wide enough he swung the tray into view. "I figured you could use some lunch."

He had patted her hand like she was a lost little child. While that was fairly close to how she felt, Aeven still didn't like Jahaziel treating her like one. She would have taken her hand from his if she didn't like how his hands felt on hers.
Instead of acting, Aeven just listened to Jahaziel as he explained what would likely be expected of her now. It hurt to hear that she likely wouldn't be allowed to work with the children for a while but when she actually took the time to look at it from a protective parent's point of view, she understood perfectly. She was part Custos and that part just happened to be the dominant part. How could any angel trust her with their child?
"What if I just don't want to use my new powers Jahaziel? Is there any way I can suppress this new side of me?" She honestly had no clue but Aeven had to ask. If there -was- a way to keep it from taking over her life she would do it. If there wasn't though... Well, she would just have to deal with it. And while she was dealing with it she would focus on not focussing on just where she'd gotten those new powers...
She had been given up as a child, when she was maybe two or three, and since then had been fighting to find her place in the world. She had finally thought she'd found it and now it was being stolen away from her... Why had her parents even bothered having her if they were going to constantly screw up her life? If only she'd known all along what she was maybe this wouldn't be so hard... Aeven gave a soft sigh and finally said, "I'll do whatever the Lord and Lady want so long as I get to stay. I mean, its not like I wanted to be a Custos..."

Salut peered at the tray that Kiel had with him. It was already lunch time? Then again, the painkillers she was on tended to knock her out for long periods of time. She patted the empty spot of the couch next to her and took the trey from him. She placed the tray on the coffee table and turned to look at Kiel. "What about you, have you eaten yet?" She knew that in the wake of the attack, Kiel was probably being run ragged.
She shed her comforter, tossing it to the easy chair next to the couch. She wore a pair of flannel pajama pants with the matching top. She scooped up the tray and placed it between them on the couch. She poked at Kiel with the fork. "Eat. There's plenty enough to share. You probably need a break anyways. So much running around." Salut zoned out after that, toying with her salad as she thought about the attack.

Jahaziel frowned once more as Aeven started speaking about supressing her new powers all together. He figured she would rather forget about them and continue as things were before, but things weren't going to be that easy. "While there are charms that will help keep your powers under control, to supress them completely would be impossible at this point. Your new Custos powers are your -dominant- powers now. They'll be what aid you instinctively when you feel your in danger, so you would still need to learn how to use them."
He knew of the circumstances that brought her to Heaven, and more specifically to the Arrighi house, so when he heard her say she'd do whatever the lord and lady said to stay, he wasn't too surprised. Ziel was concerned, however, knowing they were stressed with cleaning up after the attack already, but he was confident they wouldn't have a problem. They'd even hired a Custos to guard their then youngest daughter some 200 years ago. Aeven's own father, as a matter of fact. "No one is ever born the way they want. That's just how it is, but you will have more than a few friends on your side on this one. Now, do you feel up to eating something? Or do you just want to rest some more?"
((ooc - okay, Ezekiel's reponse will have to wait... he's off sleeping somewhere in my head and I can't find him, lol))

When he told her she wouldn't be able to suppress the Custos side of her, she felt her eyes fill up with tears. She tried to blink them away but they wouldn't stop. For the first time since meeting him, Aeven was very glad that Jahaziel was blind, she didn't want him to see her cry...
As he kept talking, his words just made the tears flow more freely. Of course she knew what he said was true but it didn't make it any easier to deal with. She may have been focussing on trying not to cry but Aeven still heard Jahaziel say she'd have friends on her side while dealing with her situation. While it was a comforting thing to hear, it wasn't quite enough for her to stop crying.
She was still fighting with her tears when Jahaziel asked if she wanted food or more rest. Taking her hand from his finally, Aeven wiped her eyes and where her tears had run down her cheeks. She tried to speak but her throat wouldn't cooperate right away. After she swallowed a couple times, Aeven answered softly, "I'm tired but I don't want to go back to sleep, I don't want my head to be over-run again. The things I saw, I just don't want to see them again..."

As Jahaziel spoke he heard a change in the normal pattern of Aeven's breathing. It was faint, barely heard over his own words, but it was there. Aeven was crying, or at least trying not to. His senses weren't so strong as to smell the salt of tears, and he feared she'd draw back if he tried lay a hand on her cheek, so he had continued to speak.
He had hoped his reassurance that she had friends with her, on her side, would help calm her some, but it seemed she didn't really calm any until he asked her a question she was almost forced to answer. Aeven hesitated in answering and even drew her hand back from his, but when she did speak he could tell by her voice that she was still quite upset.
Ziel's mouth was drawn in a tight line, an expression of worry, but he wasn't quite sure how to reassure her at this point. He took her hand in his again. "I'm sorry. Dreams I cannot help you with. Though, they are your mind's way of dealing with problems, however frightening they many be. And visions, well, it wouldn't matter if you were awake or asleep for those. They will come at their own disgression. Perhaps you should eat, distance yourself from them some, then try to sleep again. I can get you whatever you'd like from the kitchens..."

After Jahaziel had asked if she wanted food or rest, and after she had given her sort-of answer, Aeven had sat up on the table. It gave a slight creak at her movement and she couldn't help but cringe, the small noise seemed loud in the nearly empty room. More than anything, right now she just wanted to wake up and have this all have been an awful nightmare...
She had to admit that when Jahaziel took her hand back she was very surprised. His apology was also a bit surprising, what was he apologizing for after all? It wasn't like he'd forced her parents together and laughed at the plight of their unwanted child. Then he went on to talk about dreams and visions, none of which comforted her but she understood his logic all the same.
When Jahaziel offered to go get her food from the kitchens, Aeven panicked, she didn't want to be left alone. "I'll go with you okay? Maybe food is a good idea since sleep is definately not..." She went to hop off the table, but as soon as her feet hit the floor she started to sway...

Jahaziel frowned, just about to convince her to stay put and rest, but she had already hopped down off the table. He still had a hold of her hand, so when she swayed on her feet he tightened his grip, grasping her elbow with his other hand to help steady her. Once she was steady on her feet he scowled at her a bit. "You need more rest than that. Are you sure you can even make it to the kitchens from here?"
His words may have been a bit harsh, but he was worried, and he didn't want Aeven collapsing on him as they made their way to the kitchens. Greyson would have his head for letting the patient wander around and Ezkiel would huff and puff at him every chance he got for not being more careful with her. Ziel knew, unconsciously, that shw as not quite so delicate, but that was besides the point.
***
Ezekiel had smiled at Salut's reaction. It had been obvious she had lost track of the time again, but that had be4een the purpose of bringing her the tray in the first place. He had been fully expecting to just drop the tray off and leave her to her lunch, not wanting to impose, but she asked if he had eaten as well. Kiel didn't get much of a chance to answer, still debating on if he should tell her the truth and risk worrying her or just telling her he'd already eaten and leaving her be.
She plucked the tray from his hands and took it to the couch. He blinked, but smiled when she offered to share the food on the tray after poking him with a fork. Kiel decided he would spend some time with her for as long as she'd have him there. He was sick and tired of dealing with the confusion the battle had left the House in. He sat down on the other side of the tray, but frowned when she began to zone out. "Are you sure you can stand my company any more? I know I've been coming by quite a lot." The comment was meant to try and lighten the mood a bit.

The instant support from Jahaziel when she swayed was the only thing that kept her upright. Her head was still spinning when he essentially grumbled at her about needing more rest. She was about to give in when he went on to ask in a doubting tone of she could even make it to the kitchens. He might have been right, but just the tone annoyed her, she wasn't a baby who needed coddling and she nearly said as much until she realized just how angry she was getting over something very silly.
Damn Custos blood apparently affected her temper. She knew full well that even just a week prior if something like this had happened she would have just brushed off his harsh tone and gone with him anyway.
Instead of giving in to her temper, Aeven answered in a quiet controlled tone, "I either go with you to the kitchens or I find my way back to my room alone which is even farther away past the kitchen." Then, looking around the room she added softly, "Plus I'm getting an evil feeling from Salut's room back there, I just can't stay here anymore, let alone rest here." She knew what had happened to the healer, she had been pretty out of it sure but no woman could be completely oblivious to the fear that had been coming off the older angel in waves, and she just didn't want to stay anywhere near the area. Stuff like that, when a place developed a memory, was prime territory to trigger a vision in her and the last thing she wanted was to See that bedroom's memory...

The control in Aeven's voice unnerved him a bit. It was going to take a bit of getting used to, this new part of her, but at least it woudl serve her well otherwise. She would have agreed to whatever he told her before, unless it was something not within his rights to demand of her. And he wouldn't have asked anything like that of her anyway. Jahaziel still stood firm, though, raising a brow at her comment. This time he made sure his tone was lighter, as to not truely offend. "You can't very well lose me in the halls, so what makes you think you'd be going back to your room on your own? I'd only follow you."
When she mentioned the feeling she was getting from Salut's room, Ziel whole-heartedly agreed. He had been having an increasingly difficult time facing the door to the back room as he sat with Aeven, knowing what had happened behind those doors. Jahaziel had seen the blood the speckled his brother's clothing as well, and was certain he had gotten his own revenge on the monster before he met with his punishment.
Jahaziel agreed to let her come with him, and even decided to give her a little taste of independence after her ordeal and see how she faired. He let go of her arm, allowing her to stand on her own, and stepped just a few steps away. "Come then, we'll find you something to eat and get you back to your own room to rest further."

Aeven couldn't help but smile at Jahaziel's teasing jibe about following her if she insisted on going back to her rooms on her own. She could tell he was trying to make up a bit for how he'd sounded earlier and she couldn't help but wonder what she had done to get him to do that. Normally once he got grumpy enough nothing would cheer him up until he worked his way out of it on his own... No matter.
When he let go of her hand, Aeven regretted its loss but she wasn't about to seem weak and clingy. At his urging she walked away from the table she'd been laying on for however long, and walked out the door into the hallway. Almost before the door had closed behind her, Aeven wanted to go back into the room. The hall, while not filled with bodies or blood, resonated still with the memories of the invading angels charging through it. "Oh gods it was bad..." Aeven muttered under her breath as she set her feet walking in the direction of the kitchen.
Progressing through the House to the kitchens was a small bit of torture to Aeven's sensitive mind and when they finally reached their destination and shut the door behind them, Aeven slumped down on a chair. Breathing heavy from both physical exertion in her weakened state, and from the turmoil inside her head, Aeven asked weakly, "How do you deal with that?" Jahaziel was a much stronger Seer than she was, Aeven knew, and if she was as overwhelmed by what she could feel, she couldn't imagine the strain it put on him...

Jahaziel was relieved that Aeven seemed to be handling walking on her own. He coaxed her out into the hall, staying within reach just incase she felt she was going to fall. He noted her hesitation, her pull to want to retreat back into the room, but she didn't. He nodded at her whispered words. "It was, but its over now." Even he felt nearly choked by the memories the halls held of the events of the previous day or so. Ziel was also a bit more prepared for it, having felt things like that before.
They worked their way through the halls and to the kitchen, trying to urge Aeven to go as fast as her body could take her. It was obviously wearing on her, both physically and mentally, and he wanted to get her somewhere she could rest. Luckily the kitchens hadn't been invovled much with the previous battle, so they were relatively calm.
Ziel laid a hand on her shoulder, giving it a quick squeeze before he moved on to opening cabinets and drawers. He turned to answer her question, however. "How? Experience. Time. Unfortunately you learn to just... get used to it. The more common occurances won't bother you as much as it is now." He leaned back against the counter. "Are you sure you're alright? You still have to make it to your rooms after you eat..."

She felt absolutely worn out sitting where she was. Even the squeeze on her shoulder from Jahaziel wasn't much comfort at this point. His answer to her earlier question didn't help either. She never wanted to have to get used to feeling what she'd felt out in the halls. The terror, hate and pain were just too much and those were just the emotions left in the place. She knew that if she'd stayed in one place too long she would have Seen what had happened and that terrified her. Before things had gone haywire in her brain, before her own blood had its little war in her head, Aeven hadn't been as sensitive to things as she was now. She'd had some sensitivity, but nothing like what she'd had to deal with in the hallway. Maybe it was because she was over-tired, but she had a sneaky feeling that it was more likely going to be this way from now on.
She was still mulling over her apparent new level of sensitivity to her surroundings when Jahaziel's question finally sunk in. She looked at him and smiled weakly, "After I eat I should be okay." It was a lie. Aeven knew that even with the bolstering effect the food would have on her, she was going to have a hard time reaching her bedroom. If the halls weren't so full of memories, Aeven might have stood a fighting chance but as it was... Oh she didn't want to go back out there!

Salut shook her head, coming out of her daze, and looked up at Kiel. "I don't mind you coming by. It's better then Greyson and his unending questions...not to mention his love of poking and prodding at bruises." she muttered before forking up some salad. Greyson was the only other person she'd let into this set of rooms, besides Kiel and the Lady of the house.
Salut glanced over at Kiel. "How's Aeven?" Dispite her own problems, she couldn't help but wonder about the younger angel. "I didn't see much but..." Salut trailed off as she stared at Kiel. "And your bother, how is he? And yourself?" She asked him about the three of them. She was oddly protective of them.
Salut finished off her salad and picked up a peice of bread. She also watched how much Kiel ate. She may have been off duty at the moment but she was still a healer.

Jahaziel wasn't quite convinced that she was as okay as she claimed, but he did agree that she had to eat. He turned to rummage aroudn a bit more, but realized he had only been doing it earlier for the sake of doing something. It would be much more productive if he actually knew what Aeven wanted to eat, let alone could eat in her condition. Ziel knew enough to keep her centered around bland foods, but what did the girl even like?
He sighed, a bit frustrated for getting ahead of himself. "Aeven, what do you feel up for? A sandwhich.. soup? I realized that I don't even know what things you like."
***
Ezekiel smiled, glad to see her in good enough spirits to be complaining about the doctor. He was also happy to hear that she didn't mind him coming around. Kiel had grown a bit protective of Salut since he found her, much more so than he had for just about anyone else. He is fiercely protective of Jahaziel, and Aeven when he needs to be, but those seemed different somehow.
He glanced up from the tray he had given his attention to when Salut asked about Aeven, and then his brother and himself. "I heard not too long ago that she was finally awake, and I can only assume she's okay if Jahaziel hasn't thrown the House into a tizzy. She'll probably have to rest for a while, and she'll have to adjust to her new powers.."
Kiel munched a bit on some of the bread on the plate, sticking with carbs to try and keep him awake for the rest of the busy day. Once he finished a few bites he answered the rest of her questions. "Jahaziel is fine. He'll be not far from Aeven's until she gets settled, but Greyson and I have been making sure he's been eating. And I'm fine" He smiled at that to reassure her. "There is only so much I can do since I'm not 'officially' head of the House guard, so they aren't running me too hard."
He picked a bit more at the piece of bread he had. "How have you been?"

"Soup I think, if we have any..." Anything more than that, Aeven knew would upset her stomach horribly and then she'd be completely incapable of getting back to her rooms... As it was, her head was starting to spin and she was getting all the little warnings of an impending vision. If only she could hold off until Jahaziel wasn't nearby. She didn't want him to get dragged into another one.
As he rummaged in the kitchen for soup stuff, Aeven took the time to focus on her breathing and some of her less involved excersises to keep her visions under control. By the time he presented her with a bowl full of liquid nourishment, Aeven's head had stopped spinning but things were still tickling at the edges of her awareness. "Thank you," she said softly as she lifted the first spoonful of soup to her mouth.

Salut peered up at Kiel while shredding her roll. "I've been doing better. Less nightmares and I haven't been so dependent on the sleeping pills lately. I even asked the Lady if I could start treating the children soon. She said as soon as I wanted to, I could get back to work. I think I may become a permanent fixture in the training rooms, if you don't mind, that is."
Salut pushed away from the tray and curled up on the sofa, head cushioned on the pillows. Even when she was healthy and in fine form, she barely at enough to feed a bird. She watched Kiel and sighed. "What about the rest of the house? How bad was it?"
