History
Dion is the second oldest of Darius deLorme’s legitimate children. Thankfully, they don’t all have the same mother. Dion shares Chantal, her deceased biological mother, with her twin Nerissa and younger sister Jade. Chantal was killed by an obsessive stalker when the twins were four and Jade 2. Though Jade witnessed the attack from the safety of a wardrobe closet, Dion caught the fallback.
She became the mother figure for her sisters. She had plenty of help during the day but she was generally left on her own at night. Jasmine, her brother’s mother, helped when she could. Sipher, her first official step-mother, wanted nothing to do with children so she hired a full-time nanny. Constance, the nanny, became the mother to her fifth sister, Demeter. Constance died due to an illness not long after Demeter was born. Ellen happened next and she made the Wicked Witch of the West look sweet and innocent. Ellen was the kind of woman who’d do anything for the sake of appearances.
Dion figures that the trouble in her life started when she turned 16. She met a boy, the usual source of trouble for teenage girls. Katsu was two years her senior and destined for college. Dion didn’t care; she wanted a summer romance. She got her romance, along with an unexpected pregnancy. Naturally Ellen was the one who found her holding the positive take-home pregnancy test.
By this point in time, Darius had left on an extended business trip and Ellen, after complaining that she didn’t feel safe when Darius was gone, had hired guards loyal to her. She, in an effort to keep this news about her teenaged daughter’s pregnancy from getting out, ordered Dion locked away. She went as far as threatening the other girls into silence. Dion was forbidden from making contact with the outside world.
Dion almost carried her child to term. Two months shy of nine months, Dion reportedly gave birth to a stillborn baby girl. Ellen, in her attempts to maintain appearances, had hired a back alley doctor who was better suited to performing abortions then bringing children into the world. It’s not hard to say that Dion’s post-labor care was sub-standard.
Dion’s sister didn’t remain quiet about the care of sister now. They had their brother, Trey, who lived with his mother rather than their father, get ahold of Darius. Unable to leave immediately, Darius sent Carmine, his right hand man, ahead to assess the situation. Carmine returned to the DeLorme estate, bringing along his own guard staff, and, upon witnessing Dion’s state of being, ordered Ellen into seclusion. He informed Darius about his actions and gave a detailed report.
Darius returned immediately and he brought along his lover, Genesis, a Curantis Alati knowledgeable about the care and healing of women who’d given birth. Darius divorced Ellen and ordered he out his sight. He banned her from ever entering France or Cedary Valley again. Dion went to live on one of her father’s lesser estates in France to heal.
By her 18th year of life, she fell into a black depression. Genesis, still considered her father’s lover even though she held Baby Dream against one hip most of the time and a ring on her finger, suggested that Dion take some courses at the local college in order to get her mind off her lost child.
Dion finished off her GED and was enrolled in various classes when she met Tobin, a fellow Ibrida Alati. He was her math tutor, mostly because she was nearly failing the class but refused to withdraw. They started dating in-between tutoring sessions.
It wasn’t long before Dion became pregnant, again. This time was different though. No one held her prisoner because she was going to have a child and Tobin wanted both her and the baby. After a small, intimate wedding the couple moved into the house left to Nerissa, who hadn’t wanted it and turned the deed over to her sister as a wedding present, by her mother, Chantal.
The house is a rambling structure on three floors with an attic and basement that Dion and Tobin finished off as livable apartments. One of the first houses built in Cedar Valley, the home had been added onto over the generations. Dion often felt like a ghost in the house but she and Tobin had no problems filling the home.
Dion gave birth to triplets. Tempest, Essence, and Hawk. Two years later, she had Rayne. Dion’s past caught up with her when the triplets were four in the form of a mental break down. She left one day, an hour before Tobin was due home from work. She wandered for four years until she found the Tara Orphanage and a girl named Faith who was desperate for motherly affection. While working for the orphanage, Dion made use of the therapist that offered her time to the children. Dion wanted to know why she’d left her babies behind.
Dion eventually figured out why she’d left. She’d always been a mother, ever since her own maternal parent had been killed. Having four children under the age of four had been to much for her to handle. After eight years of not making contact with her family, with the exception of when her baby sister Dream had been kidnapped, she called Tobin and asked if they could talk. She told him the reason why she left and asked if she could come home. Dion did go home, though life wasn’t easy. Her children didn’t easily forgive her for leaving. And she couldn’t forget about Faith. A year after returning home, her and Tobin adopted the girl.
Life went smoothly from then on, until a young pregnant woman knocked on her door. Saiyuri, 24, had some questions she wanted answered. Dion’s first child, the one who been stillborn, had lived. Ellen’s treachery at its finest. Ellen had hunted down the father’s family and turned the infant over to them.
Dion, though shocked, welcomed her babies into her home. Life is still good, she even has two grandchildren. Saiyuri gave her a little girl named Lani, not to mention the twin terrors of Saiyuri’s boyfriend, Thiery. Faith, after marrying Tempest, gave Dion a grandson named Bram. Dion herself is looking forward to being a mother again, though she hasn’t yet told anyone except Tobin.
