Basic History
Faith Deluge was born to angel parents. Now, normally a little girl-angel could expect a happy and well-loved childhood but not Faith; not when her mother was a woman like Rage Danada.
Rage, a deity-less angel, was always one step away from falling but she never took that last leap. Instead she drank, played with various drugs and slept around. She also had children. Faith, when she was born, had a 14 year-old brother and a 11 year old sister. Wrath and Mercy, respectfully. Wrath, after killing Faith’s father for the injures he inflicted on Mercy, left a week after Faith’s third birthday. Mercy left a few years later leaving Faith, then 6, alone with Rage.
That’s when the trouble started.
A young social worker was called to the scene. Though this was his first case, he was handed the file because he was the ethereal being assigned to the county and knew about such things as Reapers. When he got to trailer park he found a cluster of Reapers pulling a resisting angel to a hastily constructed gateway, another set dragging out a black body bag and a young Reaper holding a child. He zeroed in on the girl. The reapers said that she’d must have seen everything. They’d found her under the bed in the master bedroom, inches away from the male body.
The social worker took the child into custody and dropped her off at the nearest foster home that had room. While he didn’t forget about Faith, she drifted to the back of his mind. About a year later, her file landed on his desk. She’d been bounced around the system, changing foster homes every few months. He managed to find a privately funded home that had the space and the skill to handle the girl.
Faith went to the Tara Orphanage at the age of 7. There she was able to interact with other paranormal children. Though she stayed somewhat shy and stand-offish, she stayed there. The staff attributed this to the trauma she’d experienced. When Faith was eight years old a woman came to work at the orphanage. Dion DeLuge frightened Faith at first but she warmed up to her. She took to following Dion around and showing her all of her school projects.
Faith doesn’t take rejection well and when Dion left suddenly, just a few weeks before her 12th birthday, she fell back into her old habit of being shy and antisocial. That was her general attitude for about a year. One day, while walking home from school with the other orphanage kids, the excited exclamation caught her attention. Parked in front of the house was a fancy car. She shrugged it off, thinking that another rich couple wanted one of the toddlers. When the director of the orphanage asked to see her, Faith wondered what she’d done until she reached the office.
Instead of getting in trouble Faith was to be adopted by Dion and her husband. She’d flown across the room, launching herself at Dion. For the next week, Faith lived out of her single suitcase, ready to leave the moment everything was finalized. She knew that everything was going to be different. New house, new school, new friends, and a new family that came with four ready made siblings.
Faith adjusted to the move quickly. The siblings took a while longer. Rayne became a great friend while it took Essence a while to warm up to her. She stayed away from Hawk but she liked to hang out with Tempest. While they were the same age, she imagined that he was the coolest big brother in the world. When she graduated from High school, Faith, like Tempest, went traveling. While she didn’t wander the world, she just visited Ireland. There she found her deity, Flidais, Celtic Goddess of forests, woodlands, and wild things. She’d always liked the wild things, feeling soothed by their presence rather then scared. She took up the sometimes thankless task of conservation. She didn’t take the traditional role of poster waving. She used the bow and arrows that Dion had gifted her on her 16th birthday to kill people who would kill animals in the wild.
She returned home after six months of travel and took some college courses, mostly centered around biology and zoology. She was quite settled in her life until Tempest reappeared. Her feelings for her big adopted brother morphed into those a single woman holds for a single man. Faith considers her relationship with Tempest a whirlwind romance. Within months she was married to the man. When she learned that she’d be giving her husband a child, she was bouncing with joy. Determined to give her son a better childhood then her own, Faith became a stay-at-home mom. Her deity, Flidais, allowed her to go on maternity leave until Bram turned five.
Within the first few months of Bram’s life, Faith learned something interesting. She had siblings. Now, you’ll remember that Faith witnessed her mother murdering her lover and falling. Faith doesn’t remember anything before waking up one morning in a foster home. She’s currently getting to know Wrath and Mercy. There’s also another addition to the family; Hope. Dion newest foster child who came from a less the stellar situation. According to Tempest, she and Hope look remarkably alike.
