History
Ezekiel and Jahaziel were orphaned as infants in the city of Babylon and raised in a home for boys that doubled as their school. They never knew their parents and no at the home could have been bothered to remember their named when the boys had been dropped off. Being identical and inseparable the boys got into all sorts of mischief together, but eventually the staff at the home learned that Ezekiel could always be reasoned with while Jahaziel would insist on continuing his rebellion.
Both boys were very sensitive to the souls of others and at a very young age it became apparent that they would be capable of some phenomenal talents if mentored properly. By the age of 7 they were introduced to a plethora of Gods and Goddesses and let themselves be drawn to one that felt the most like home. For Jahaziel that was Thoth.
Jahaziel had begun to predict the outcome of events by the age of 4. To him, it was like a sort of double vision. He could see what was happening right now, but he could also how everything was going to play out to its inevitable conclusion, almost as if it was overlaid on top of everything else. This was how he knew one of the soldiers was going to die during a training exercise they had snuck off to watch. His brother Ezekiel only confirmed the death moments later.
Thoth taught him how to calm and center himself so he could reach out and seek more knowledge about future events. For a long time, all he was able to grasp were just what would happen to the people around him within the next few days or weeks. Thoth was helping him not only work up to God level prophetic events, but to be able to know what should and should not be shared with others – as there was a balance to be kept.
The boys had continued to live the group home, mainly so they could stay together while they trained with their respective gods. It was coming time for them to think about moving out. They were approaching 18 and they had been saving up money from their duties.
Jahaziel had been reaching further and further with each of his session, but he felt like there was something just out of his reach. He was waiting in a small square near the group home for his brother – eyes closed, just listening to a nearby fountain, focusing on his breathing – when he was suddenly hit by an incredibly strong vision. It was bright, painful and absolutely terrifying. He was surrounded as watched people fighting and cities falling – so many cities falling – he felt like he was drowning. He lashed out at anyone who touched him and started screaming.
He heard his brother’s voice through the chaos and tried to focus on it, but it was so hard. Finally, he felt his brother arms wrap around him, but the vision still hadn’t stopped. He couldn’t settle his mind enough to make it go away. It wasn’t until later that night that he was able to come back to himself and realize that they were locked in a cell together. He had curled into his brother’s side and tried to forget everything he had seen. When they got word of Atlantis the next day, he knew everything had been real and that it was far from over.
It was Osiris and Thoth that finally got them released. They spirited the boys out of Babylon and they began a nomadic life. Babylon fell just a year after Atlantis. Every vision Jahaziel had since had made the “double vision” feeling worse and the ability to see normally afterwards much harder. Eventually, he found he was almost totally blind. He could tell daylight from darkness, and could tell some vague large shapes if there was enough light contrast, but otherwise he was without sight.
They used their connections with their respective Gods to continue their training as they traveled the lands, and after centuries of wandering they found a home. Jahaziel saw the Arrighi family, saw what they would become in the future and some of the particular people they would surround themselves with. He knew that he had his brother needed to be there, to be well ingrained with the family when those people made their appearance, so they settled in with the family and stayed.
