Basic History
Alessia believes that her life started when she was 492. That was the year she gave birth to Carma. Granted, she didn’t have any contact with him till he was in the care of the Roman and Greek gods. Before that, she trained and fought when and where she wanted to. General Valerio seduced her, truly believing that women warriors were useless. Sure, Alessia was good with a sword and had a reputation but she was still female.
He managed to keep Alessia until she gave birth to Carmine, though she fought against the General’s restrictions at every turn. After giving birth, Alessia was drugged and dumped. She tried to see her son but the General wouldn’t allow it, as he had with the mother’s of his other sons. He disregarded the daughter. He believed that women were weak and that any female influence would weaken his sons.
When Carma would have been ten years old, Vulcan summoned her to Olympus; where the Greek and Roman gods resided together. Her son had been handed over to Mars. She approached the war god and asked his permission to get to know her son. He readily allowed it. The relationship between mother and son was uneasy at first but Carmine eventually warmed up to her and through her, learned to respect women.
When Carma grew up and left Olympus to become a sword-for-hire, he eventually confronted his father in battle and destroyed the man. While the General was healing, Alessia made her appearance and taunted him. Her son, the pretty one who was useless, was the strongest of his known children. It turned out that that while the women of Alessia’s line would inherit the ability to manipulate fire, the men of the line transformed that ability into that of the Legendary Berserker Warriors. She and Carma have since turned their backs on the Custos who now had to rely on female nurses just to live.
Alessia now passes her time, training others to fight and killing people, mostly those who are truly nasty. She visits Carma often and often wonders when the man is going to slip up in his affairs and give him a grandchild or settle down. She’d prefer both but will take either one.
