Basic History
Childhood was easy for Tovah and River and they moved around quite a bit due to their father’s work (he was in the military). Their family was stationed in Japan when Tovah turned thirteen and the night of her birthday, after all her friends had gone home, some strangers came to their door claiming they were lost. Tovah had been the one to answer the door and when she turned to yell for her parents, she didn’t know whether or not to let the strangers in, she was grabbed from behind by one of the strangers as they barged in.
After that moment, the night became a blur to Tovah and all that she remembers, even six years later, is that there was a lot of blood. When she woke up the next morning, Tovah was somewhere strange surrounded by people she didn’t know. She wasn’t sure how long had been held by these strangers but she knew they weren’t normal. She had watched many of them bite people and seem to drink their blood. Even though her parents had told her over and over that vampires weren’t real, Tovah was being faced with the cold hard facts that they were indeed real.
She had just about given up hope that anybody would come get her when she was woken up one morning by shouting and loud crashing noises. Like everybody else, Tovah panicked but instead of running away from the noises of the invaders she ran toward them. Whoever it was couldn’t possibly be as bad as the people who were holding her captive. Almost as soon as she reached somebody she didn’t know, Tovah was swept away from where she’d been being held and she found herself in her brother’s arms. The rest of that day was hectic and Tovah has nearly as much trouble remembering that day as the one she lost her parents.
She was later told she’d been held for two weeks before her brother’s new vampire kin had been able to find her. In the attack on her parents, Tovah had also been attacked but before the vampire could latch onto her arm, River had yanked the vampire off (causing the scars she still bares on her arm) and had become the vampire’s victim instead. Somehow River survived the attack and was eventually found by vampires that were hunting the rogue pack. They took him in and told him what had happened while they continued to try and find the rogues, and in turn Tovah.
Despite the fact that River and Tovah had other family, they were transferred into the care of a Moriba couple back in the US who could help raise the orphaned children and train River in his developing powers. River adjusted well to the new family but Tovah didn’t do nearly so well. At least, not until she was allowed to train with other vampires who specialized in hunting down Rogues. Once she had somewhere to direct all her pent up anger, Tovah was able to relax at home and even came to care for her adopted parents.
She is now enrolled part time at the same college that her brother attends in Massachusetts. When she’s not at school, Tovah works at the local children’s rec. center and teaches gymnastics or continues her training with the Hunters. She is determined to help stop as many Rogues from ruining the lives of innocents as she can.
