Shay blinked when Lily pondered over whether she would have given the "nerdy" Lily the time of day or not. She'd never been one to judge and had actually admired the nerdy girl's legs a time or two, but the red hair had always caused her to steer clear of approaching her. Of course, after Friday night Shay was never likely to balk at red hair again. At least not Lily's.
When Lily went and took her seat, Shay blinked again. She'd meant to say something to the other woman but she'd just sorta zoned. Memories from Friday night had her reeling a bit and she was still trying to come to terms with the fact that her Lily was the nerdy girl who she'd sat next to all term. How the hell she hadn't figured that out Friday night Shay honestly didn't know...
All through class Shay found herself watching Lily. The girl acted just the same as she had when she'd been just the nerdy girl. She still chewed on the end of her pens whenever she was thinking and not actively taking notes. She still tucked the stray hairs behind her ears whenever they fell against her cheek. She still watched her out of the corner of her eye and then looked away whenever she noticed Shay looking her way. The first two Shay found cute and endearing, the third had her wondering just how blind she'd been all this time. Had Lily honestly been watching her all term waiting for her to make a move? If she had, Shay suddenly felt like a moron.
After class, when Lily came back to Shay's desk as she was putting her things away, Shay smiled warmly at her. At Lily's question about whether or not Shay was mad at her, the younger woman laughed. "Are you out of your mind? Why would I be mad about something so silly as that? I'm just surprised you're not mad at me for being so oblivious to the fact that you've been watching me all term. I tend to live in my own little world most of the time and it takes something like Friday night to wake me up. I'm just sorry it took me so long to notice you. Will you forgive me?"

River cursed his cell phone service when once again he managed to miss a call from Sebastian even though the phone had been on. He was determined to switch carriers as soon as his current contract was up.
After listening to the message twice, just to make sure Sebastian actually sounded like he was doing okay and not like he was just pretending, River tucked his phone back in his pocket and climbed into his car. He'd just dropped Tovah off at her work and now needed to get to his own local Vampire Council meeting. If the darn phone had just rang through like it should have, he could have talked while getting Tovah where she needed to be.
Now though, he needed to think about the meeting ahead and how to broach the subject of accidentally making another vampire... He so rarely went to Council meetings that most of the members only knew him by sight and not by name. This worked fine for him most days, but today it would have been nice to have a couple people there as support. Unfortunately he'd be on his own and he was honestly a bit worried.
*****
Seth time was Livvies favorite time of the day. She really wasn't fond of his mother or grandmother but the little guy himself was too cute for words. Surprisingly he wasn't a spoiled brat either. Livvie, now that she knew his father a bit, chalked that all up to that half of his genetic make-up. For a three year old he was very level-headed and laid back, not a whole lot phased him.
Of course, the one thing that did seem to get the boy excited was when the doorbell rang at a certain time on certain days. The boy seemed to have an internal calendar and clock that always knew just when his father would be arriving to pick him up for the weekend. And when the doorbell rang this day, Seth went tearing out of the playroom to the front door and through it, flying into his father's arms. Livvie, at a more dignified pace, followed the boy and stepped out onto the porch.
When Logan commented on his son's attire, Livvie screwed her face up in distaste and answered, "I know, I'm sorry, its what Grace had him in when I got here. I packed him one prissy outfit to come home in to keep her and his grandmother happy but I thought maybe, if you don't mind, that you'd want to go with me when I buy him some regular clothes to keep at your house. The boy needs jeans and tshirts and sneakers like nobody's business. I hate worrying about shoes that he's going to scuff at the playground..."
The whole time she'd been talking, Livvie had been avoiding eye contact with Logan by smiling at Seth who was half turned and looking between her and his daddy. When she finally stopped talking, Livvie focussed her attention on Logan and smiled somewhat shyly. Unlike her sister, Livvie didn't have much experience with relationships and considering she adored the man's son and secretly wished he were hers, this made being totally attracted to the man more than a little awkward for her.

Lily grinned. Wrapping an arm around Shay's waist, she waved at her classmates and escorted Shay out. Too bad Nerdy Lily would be returning. She'd enjoyed their confusion. How could two totally seperate girls be the same person? Nerds weren't supposed to dance like that.
She walked Shay to her next class, gave her a heartstopping kiss outside the door and scooted over to the admin office in the English Department. The professors commented on her attire and Lily rolled her eyes. Throughout her workday, Lily entertained herself by texting Shay. The texts were mostly about what she'd do to Shay when they were alone.
She also used her breaktime to flip through the school directory to find Shay's room number. By the time her shift was over, Shay would be back in her room. Though going to a party wasn't an option, damned god-awful early morning class, maybe they could get some coffee.
Once done for the day, Lily popped over to the dorm room and knocked on Shay's door and grinned at the neighbors. When Shay opened the door, Lily's grin turned into a smile. "Wanna go get some coffee and make out in the backseat of my car?" she asked.
*** Logan smiled. "A trip to the mall will probably cheer him up. We've got a doctor's appointment today and I get volunteered for it because Grace doesn't know any Vampire doctors. And yes, he needs play clothes. Wanna come along?" he asked Livvie with a crooked grin.
Logan calmly buckled Seth into the car. He grinned at Livvie while shoveling all of the stuff out of his front passenger seat. "Single guy," he said instead of explaining. "Now, lets go get our ear drums brust. He's gonna scream if the doc comes near him with a needle. Just like Lily."
**
Sebastian really had to stop closing doors with his feet. He'd work on that, starting tomorrow, and kicked his apartment door shut. He had bags of groceries in both arms. After unloading, Seb sat on his couch and flipped open his phone. No calls.
He'd done the vampire council thing, gotten his wrist slapped for being careless and gone food shopping. He calculated the time and punched in River's number. When a sleepy voiced vampire answered, Seb grinned. "Did I wake you?"

Shay took the arm around her waist to mean that she was forgiven and she couldn't help but smile like a fool. She realized she was a bit giddy, smiling like she was, but couldn't figure out just why. Lily was beautiful, obviously smarter than her, forgiving of Shay's moments of idiocy, and damn good in bed and Shay was willing to bet that it was a combination of those things and not just one of them that had her acting like a school girl who'd just gotten her first kiss. Once they reached Shay's next class, Lily didn't even say goodbye she just laid a kiss on the younger woman that likely would have left her a little trembling puddle on the floor (or lead to her jumping her right there in the hallway) if Lily hadn't pushed her through the classroom door.
Thanks to that parting kiss, and the naughty text messages (made even naughtier when paired with Shay's vivid imagination), Shay missed damn near all of her class. Not for the first time she was glad that her twin had insisted she buy a voice activated recorder so she could go back over the lectures at a later time. The fact that she actually remembered to get it out and turn it on surprised the hell out of her when class let out and she had to turn it off and put it away.
The text messages continued through her next class (science) but luckily it too was just a lecture, she didn't actually have to do anything besides sit there with her recorder on. If it had been a lab, Shay was sure she would have blown something up or broken something, or set something on fire... She'd always sucked at science and was very happy that the amount required for a Music Major was very limited...
When she was finally able to escape classes all together, Shay bolted for her dorm room. The only detour she made was to stop and snag something to snack on. If she was going to jump Lily like she very much wanted to thanks to those damn text messages, she didn't want to do it on an empty stomach.
Knowing that studying would be damn near impossible when she got back to her room, she tossed her bag onto her bed, grabbed her shower stuff, and went to take a cold shower. She doubted the shower would help much, but maybe it'd be enough to clear her mind long enough to do something semi-productive. It took all of 10 seconds in the cold water for Shay to realize that a shower was the last thing in the world that would help her right now. She and Lily had enjoyed the shower at her apartment a little too much for Shay's mind -not- to immediately remember and relive it for her. She had to hurry to finish and get out.
Eventually Shay was able to force her mind to at least partially focus on something besides Lily. She didn't really like practicing her violin in her room because her roomie complained (as did many of her neighbors), not to mention the acoustics were horrible, but it was the only thing she could do to calm down. So, wrapped in a towel she played for probably 45 minutes before deciding she didn't want to piss off her roomie if she came home any time soon and put away the instrument and bow.
Shay, having finally decided that getting dressed (along with putting away the violin) was a necessity to keeping the peace with her room mate, had pulled on a very short pair of black cotton shorts and light grey wifebeater tank top. Everything was covered and she was comfortable, perfect compromise to being wrapped in a towel or being covered from her chin to her toes.
She was just brushing the tangles out of her hair when somebody knocked on her door. Thinking it'd be her sister, Shay padded to the door not caring how she was dressed. Livvie, after all, had seen her in much much less. Their family in general was not shy or ashamed of their bodies, and as twins the girls had even less when it came to seeing each other after all.
Only, when Shay opened the door it wasn't Olivia at all. Lily was standing their smiling at her and asking her if she wanted to go out for coffee and a make-out session in the back of her car. Any good that her violin might have done her flew immediately out the window and Shay's imagination ran away with her again. A wicked smirk danced across her lips as she answered with a question of her own, "Do you really need to ask lover?" She intentionally used the same word that Lily had used earlier that day, the one that had knocked her out of her seat and flat on her ass when she realized just who was saying it.
*****
When Logan invited her to go with him to Seth's doctor's appointment, Olivia immediately agreed to go. She'd never been good with needles either and would likely get a bit queasy if she had to watch, but if it gave her more time with both Seth and Logan she was happy to go along. Maybe both she and Seth would get lucky and no needles would be involved...
If nothing else, the trip to the mall with both males would be a good reward for the possible exposure to evil needles. She'd buy Seth some ice cream or one of those giant pretzels or something else his mother never let him get.

After his meeting with the local Vampire Council, River had gone home and had a very strong drink. He'd never been so worked up over something in his life and he'd had very good reason. They hadn't been nice at all. His adopted parents had even gotten reprimanded for "not teaching him proper Turning ettiquette". The only reason he hadn't gotten in more trouble was because the sex had been consentual even if the turning had been an accident.
So, with the order of mandatory attendance to all Council meetings for the next year with updates on Sebastian, River had been essentially given a smack on the wrist and sent on his way. Matthew and Keely, his adoptive parents, had tried to comfort River and tell him that they weren't mad at him but their words fell on deaf ears.
He had gone to bed early, being emotionally drained and not wanting to think about the meeting anymore, and when the phone rang at 11:30pm it woke him up. It took him a moment to realize that the phone that was ringing was his cell phone and not the house phone. Once he figured that out, he rolled over and fumbled in the dark for it, looked at the ID and smiled when he saw it was Sebastian. Thank the gods!
"Yes you woke me, no I'm not mad so don't worry about it, and please please make my head stop throbbing?" Just hearing Sebastian's voice calmed River significantly but he still just wanted to crawl in a hole and hide.

To say that Seb was shocked that River'd had such a hard time with his own meeting was an understatement of the year. He half and hour he raged and ranted about the idiots on the council. Of course, when River asked what the hell he was talking about, Sebastian settled down to explain. He ran a hand through his hair and explained that he'd only been repremanded about not being careful.
"My family has had a long standing agreement with the Cedar Valley Council. My uncle, for lack of a better word, is the family's master vampire. Rowan's grandfather is the council member, the very head honcho for the entire Keahi line all over the world. Everyone but me and my twin brother are immortal in that family. We were quite young when our father was turned and Lysander, that's my uncle, made an agreement with the council that he would turn and teach anyone who needs it. He's a Morbia vampire as well."
Sebastian groaned over his own stupidity. "Look, I'll come out with Uncle Lysander and we'll get this all smoothed over. I can't believe that your council didn't research."
***
Logan, a sleeping, and shot free, Seth, asleep on his shoulder, smiled at Livvie. He had melted ice cream on his shirt and a dribble of Seth-drool going down the shoulder. He followed Livvie up to Seth's room in his mother's house. They'd stored the bulk of the recently purchased play clothes at his place. He gently laid Seth down on his bed and pulled off his sticky clothing. He put on the pajamas Livvie handed to him.
Not shocked that he didn't run into Grace or Grandma during his run through the house, Logan thanked Livvie for coming along with him. And then he invited Livvie to come along during the weekend when he planned to take Seth to the Zoo.
***
Lily grinned. She leaned in and kissed Shay, in full view of any neighbors milling around the halls. "Why don't get put something else on, though I'd like you in even less, and lets get some coffee, take a drive and then try out the back seat."
Lily waited for Shay. She felt that she didn't have to wait long. Shay must have moved at light speed to get changed that fast. She grinned, took Shay's hand and led her down to a coffee shop on campus. The barista already knew what she wanted so she let Shay order. Once they had their orders, Lily took Shay to a couch hidden away in a corner. "You can probably guess how often I come here," she sat as she they sat. She snuggled up to Shay and nuzzled her neck.
Once they finished off their coffee and the random small talk, Lily led Shay to her car, cranked over the engine and drove to a quiet spot outside of town. Once they wiggled into the backseat of the car, Lily straddled Shay. "I think I'm rather addicted to you," she said before kissing the young woman.

River was in no way going to object to seeing Sebastian again so soon after his departure, but he still had to voice his objection to the hassle it'd put the new vampire and his uncle through. "Look, I may not like how they treated me or my punishment but that doesn't mean you need to interrupt your busy life, or your uncles, to save me from some discomfort. I'd love to see you again but if you can't do this easily, or if your uncle can't, then please don't stress over it okay?"
River's head was starting to throb even worse the more he talked to Sebastian. He was also starting to over heat in his blankets and he couldn't help but wonder if it was the alcohol, his aggitation, or if the damn thermostat was on the fritz again. When the pain in his head started spreading through the rest of his body as he listened to Sebastian once again insist on coming out with his uncle Lysander to smooth things over, River started to have trouble controlling his breathing. It just hurt so damn bad!
What finally tipped River off that Sebastian really -did- need to come back east was not what the other man was saying, it was the fact that his fingernails were replaced in a wave of horrific pain by sharp feline looking claws. The last words out of River's mouth before his first Shift took him were, "Claws? What the hell?!" The phone dropped onto his bed and a feral grown exploded from River as his whole body exploded in pain and a very large, very angry cougar replaced the poor unsuspecting vampire.

The day with Logan and Seth had been amazing. Olivia knew before this day that she adored Seth, loved him as much as any nanny ever loved their charges. What she didn't know until that night when she and Logan tucked Seth into bed was that she was fairly certain she loved Logan as well. A man's true character could always be determined by how he treated small children and animals and the way Logan treated Seth melted Livvie's heart into a happy little puddle.
When Logan thanked her for going with him to Seth's appointment and then to the mall, Livvie smiled warmly at him and answered, "It was the perfect way to spend an afternoon, thank you for inviting me." Then, not wanting to wake the boy (he was a bit of a light sleeper at times) she nodded toward the door with her head and waiting for Logan to go out before following him and closing the door.
Once out in the hallway, Livvie made her way toward the stairs. She didn't want to answer Logan's invite to the zoon until she knew there was no way Grace or her mother would be listening and get it in their heads to possibly fire her for consorting with the "enemy". She knew the two of them were home, the house smelled very strongly of them and she'd heard noises coming from the direction of Grace's bedroom, so she gathered her own things and went outside with Logan to where their cars were parked before she said anything else.
"As for this weekend, I'd love to go to the zoo. Just come pick me up after you get little man." Then she handed Logan a piece of paper with her cell number and address on it. At Logan's strange look, Olivia explained, "I don't go to the same school as you, Shay and Lily go to technically so my dorm is on that campus instead. The reason you might have seen me around your campus is because of the inter-college exchange. I take a few classes from your school to supplement the ones my school doesn't have."
*****
When Lily kissed her and then suggested she put something else on, Shay remembered just how little she was wearing and smirked again. As she threw on some more public friendly attire, a zippered lightweight sweater over her tank top, and a fairly short and semi-ragged denim skirt to replace her shorts, Shay couldn't help but giggile at the looks she'd caught on people's faces as Lily had kissed her. She'd always basically ignored the boys in the dorm that hit on her when she made her way back from the shower in a towel, and now they all knew why.
Stopping in her room proper only long enough to grab her room key and shove it in her sweater pocket, Shay hurried back out to Lily in what was probably record time. From the dorm the pair made their way to a coffee house on campus that Shay had managed to miss, and when the barista knew exactly what Lily was having Shay just looked at her for a moment with a raised eyebrow before ordering her own coffee.
Snuggling on the mostly hidden couch and making small talk was nice but as soon as Lily started nuzzling her neck, Shay's mind jumped ahead to the promised make out session in the car. Why oh why was her body acting so embarassingly needy? She'd always had a healthy sex drive but this was just rediculous. Sure she'd not had many relations with anybody since coming to college but it wasn't like she'd totally deprived herself. Just mostly. Nothing like what Lily was capable of doing to her. In truth, nobody had ever had quite the same effect on her that Lily did and she just couldn't get enough of it.
When Shay finally took her last swallow of coffee and got up to throw her cup away, Lily followed and then they made their way to her car. For Shay, the drive was total torture. She knew what was coming and much as she wanted to tell Lily to hurry, she just sat like a good little girl and waited until the older woman found whatever spot she'd been looking for and pulled over. Once they were both settled in the back seat of Lily's car and Lily crawled onto Shay's lap, straddling her, Shay gave up being good and her hands slid up Lily's thighs to her hips and back down. At Lily's confession to being addicted to Shay, Shay froze for only a moment and then melted into Lily's kiss.
After much kissing and letting her hands roam freely, both on top of and underneath Lily's shirt, Shay pulled away for just long enough to take off her sweater because she was getting way too warm. Before she let herself slip back into Lily's embrace, Shay admitted, "I think I'm rather addicted to you too."

Her pre-Shay life had been very simple. Study Sunday afternoon through Friday morning in order to keep her grants and scholarships, work in the English Department office and party hard on the weekends. Now, there was Shay in her life and the younger woman was sneaking into all the corners. It had only been a couple of weeks since they'd met but the relationship between them was hot and heavy. They rarely spent any time apart anymore.
Right now was one of those rare times. Shay was our, helping to mover her older brother into the apartment of his boyfriend. Apparently she and Shay weren't the only ones to have had a wild weekend but while it wasn't surprising for Shay to with a woman, it was a shock for her brother to have not only turned a man but to move in with him as well. Instead of working on her lit paper, Lily snatched up her phone and sent a message to Shay, telling her to bring dinner home when she finished slinging her brother's stuff around. She hinted that Shay would get very lucky if she also brought back some sort of triple chocolate death dessert.
Her brother had ruined their last coffee date, calling when things were just getting interesting. She'd listened, half-amused and very aroused as Shay had blasted her brother, only to be cut off by him saying something that had Shay jumping off the couch, shrieking at the phone about what an idiot her brother was. Before Lily had really known what had happened, Shay had been apologizing and running for the door.
Of course, she'd called later and explained what had happened so everything was fine but since then the brother had been on the phone all the time. Once Shay got to the apartment, Lily planned on shutting off both their phones and eating her triple chocolate dessert off Shay's equally delectable body.
**** Sebastian scrubbed a hand over his hair. He'd only brought the essentials but even that seemed like a lot of stuff now. After that heart-stopping phone call when River had shifted for the first time, he'd made the decision to move east. No one had been able to talk him out of it and when questioned by his parents, he'd told the truth. That he'd not only had a wild weekend with another man but had been turned by and had turned said man as well. And now that the situation was even more complicated, he felt that he needed to be there for that man while he accustomed himself to be a cougar as well as vampire. He felt responsible.
And talking River into this had seemed even harder but in the end, he'd wormed his way into a loft area of the apartment River shared with his sister. Tovah was out at the moment, working at her job as a gymnastics instructor and he'd finally shooed his own sisters away. Sebastian broke down a box and went to hunt down River.
There was defiantly something between the two of them and now that he'd be here for a while, Sebastian wanted to explore that something. He tracked River down in his bedroom and knocked on the door. "You can come out now. All of the estrogen is gone," he said to the wood paneling.
When River opened the door, Sebastian smiled at him. "Can we talk about us. I don't know about you but that weekend, minus the after effects, was the best time of my life." ****
Logan watched as Livvy sat witn Seth across the lawn. The kid's mother had forgotten to tell her that this was Logan's weekend with the boy. So he'd come to collect his son and he wondered if he could convince the nanny to come back to his place as well.
He walked across the lawn, calling out to his son and grinning when Seth went into happy wiggles. He sat down and plunked Seth into his lap. "Your mother is an idiot. She forgot that this was our man weekend," he glanced over at Livvy, "though I could be persuaded to let the pretty nanny come along if she wanted."
