Special Abilities:
Some abilities vary by color, others are general to all. Those general to all colors are the ability to change their shape from dragon, to human or Brood, the ability to mindspeak while in any form, the ability to fly while in dragon form, and the ability to fly while in Brood form so long as the individual is not a Wingless.
~Color Specific Elements/Breath Weapon:
~~Gold~ magic/breath weapon of untamed & chaotic magic (black and white twisting ropes of lighting)
~~Red~ fire/breath weapon of fire, burns targets on contact
~~Blue~ water/breath weapon of icy wind, can freeze targets on contact
~~Green~ earth/breath weapon of petrification , when targets are hit they turn to stone
~~White~ air/ breath weapon of a cyclone, throws targets around like a tornado
*Blacks have both parents’ elements and both parents’ breath weapons
Bonding:
As the Brood are dragons, they are capable of bonding with non-dragons. They can choose a bond partner anytime before they take a mate but once they have mated, if they have not chosen a bond they will not be able to unless the mate also chooses to take the same bond partner. They can take a bond from whatever gender or species of human or Dark One they choose. Their chosen bond partner, if not able to mind-speak already will inherit that ability from their Brood counterpart as well as (over time) the ability to sense where their Brood counterpart is located and their state of well-being. If unable to mind-speak before bonding, he bond partner will only be able to mind-speak with their Brood, and later if the Brood takes a mate, the Brood's mate as well. Something else that happens to the non-dragon bond partner is that once bonded, the non-dragon partner's aging will slow to a crawl, and may halt altogether so that the dragon partner doesn't outlive their bond partner.
Other information about bonding includes that so long as a Brood's magic is strong enough they can bond at any age as soon as they are old enough to form emotional attachments. This is part of why family ties among the Brood are so strong. Youngsters, even without the spell to make the bond permanent, are able to make temporary bonds with people they care about or feel protected by. This is a protective trait inherent in all Brood so that if by chance a youngster is separated from adult Brood they will be able to form bonds with whoever winds up caring for them, increasing the protective instincts of the new caretaker for the young Brood.
