Size for a Brood is based on which form they're in. Like all people, and creatures, the actual sizes of individuals will vary but here are the general limits:
~Size at birth (all colors - born in dragon form): 3ft at shoulders, 6 ft nose to tail tip, 4ft wingspan upon hatching
~Size at maturity (all colors): human form - females 5’10 or taller, males 6’4 or taller; Brood form - females up to 7’6 tall, males up to 8’6 tall
~Dragon form (sizes vary by color) :
~~Gold: up to 17ft at shoulders, 35ft nose to tail tip, 45ft wingspan
~~Red: up to 14ft at shoulders, 28ft nose to tail tip, 38ft wingspan
~~Blue: up to 10ft at shoulders, 20ft nose to tail tip, 28ft wingspan
~~Green: up to 7ft at shoulders, 14ft nose to tail tip, 20ft wingspan
~~White: up to 6ft at shoulders, 12ft nose to tail tip, 16ft wingspan
Appearance of different forms:
~Human: Looks like any typical human if on the tall side. All except the oldest are very fit in appearance and typically look to be in their 20's or 30's. The oldest of Brood while in their human form can take on a slightly softer, rounder, appearance as some of their athleticism fades and they can appear to be in their 50's or 60's. Aside from that, they vary as much in looks as any other humans within limits. Depending on their colors while in dragon form, their eyes and hair will match their hide/scale color. Golds have hair in various shades of blond, and they have eyes anywhere from a very unusual light yellow color to a color that can almost be considered brown but most have honey colored eyes. Reds have red hair (any shade) and typically eyes that, unless looked at really closely, look brown but are really a dark red. Blues and greens typically have hair so dark as to appear black with a sheen of their color and then blue or green eyes accordingly. Whites have white/white-blond hair and very light grey/blue eyes. The few blacks that there are, have black hair and mismatched eyes, one for each of their parents color
~Brood (human/dragon hybrid): All the color attributs that go with the human form, also applies to the Brood form. In this form though, their human body changes and becomes more draconic, covered in fine and flexible (but very strong) scales all over their bodies except on their faces, hands and feet. Then, on the more bony parts of their body (eyebrow ridges, cheek bones, shoulders, spine, shins, etc...) they have bigger scales. In this form, they also sometimes have horns around their hair line. Size and number vary according to how many they have in dragon form. In this form, they also have wings that match those they bear in their dragon form, just sized properly for this form which is much smaller. The only Brood that don't have wings in this form are the Wingless, and unlike when in their dragon form they cannot fly in this one.
~Dragon: Now, this form varies quite a bit. Brood from different regions around the world tend to appear different from one another even among the same colors. For example, Brood from farther north are more likely to have fur covering their scales (though not always), and dragons from a desert area tend to have mostly the fine, strong, scales. A few Brood from more tropical regions have even been known to be slightly feathered (mostly on the crest of their heads and on their wings) in varying shades of their normal color. All brood can live in all regions so all can have these different variations. Something else that can vary among all dragon colors is that there are sometimes those born without wings. Wingless can be born to dragons with, or without, wings so its a rather unpredictable occurence. Luckily, while in dragon form the Wingless can still fly through magical means, if not physical ability.
Other Physical Statistics:
Time to maturity: 300ish years (adolescence for human form 13-16, for dragon form 150)
Number of wings/arms/legs: 2 arms 2 legs (human), 2 arms, 2 legs, 2 wings (Brood - unless Wingless), 4 legs, 2 wings (dragon - unless Wingless)
Scales? Hide? Feathers?
~Human: Skin
~Brood: mostly delicate scales except on softer, less vital parts then skin and bigger scales on bonier parts, wings like those of their dragon form so could be lightly scaled, furred or feathered
~Dragon: Varies by region, but typically fine, strong scales all over, with bigger scales on bony and more vital areas, hide/fine scales/feathers/fur on wings
Breeding
How often can they get pregnant? Each female has 4 fertile times per year once they reach maturity at 300 years old (more sporadically between 150 years and 300) that last for two weeks at a time. If they choose to mate during these two week windows, even once, they will almost without a doubt get pregnant. Mating more than once in these time periods ups (but doesn't guarantee) the likelihood of multiples.
Are there any special circumstances/requirements? Mating can take place in any of their three forms but when mating in dragon or brood form, the chance for multiples also increases due to a proper mating flight. Also, if mating occurs in dragon or brood form, the female may choose to shift twice (from dragon/brood to human, and then from human to dragon to clutch) during her pregnancy without harming the unborn. If she shifts more than twice the risk of miscarriage/dud eggs is almost certain. If mating occurs while in human form, the pregnancy will follow a normal human timeline (9 months) and the dragonet(s) will be born human but will shift to dragon form within the first 24 hours.
How long between pregnancies? At the absolute minimum, 2 years. More commonly upwards of 3 years.
How long is it pregnant? 9 months total: 7 months internally, 2 months once laid until hatching (if mating occurred while in dragon/brood form) or 9 months internally (if mating occurred while in human form)
Are all females fertile (barring accidents)? yes
Are all males fertile (barring accidents)? yes
Is there sex linked traits (like color)? no
How many offspring can they have at once? Normally only 1 but occasionally twins or more.
