History
Lissa was raised on a horse farm and has always been a rough and tumble farm girl because of it. She spent her younger years home schooled by her father’s sister, who also lived on the horse farm, and aside from her chores and her riding lessons she and the sons of the farmhands were always getting into trouble. The first time one of those boys tried to kiss her, Lissa hit him and knocked him into a horse’s water trough. After that little incident, Lissa’s parents decided it was probably time for their daughter to go to a real school.
Lissa hated school. It interfered with the life she had become accustomed to on the farm. Somehow she managed to make her way through middle school and high school. Luckily by then, she had learned there was a lot more to life than just the horses she’d grown up around and she was happy to go to college so long as it would be the one close to her home.
As her parents’ only child, Lissa always knew that if she wanted the family farm and business, it’d be hers. This made choosing her fields of study in college very easy as there was no way she’d let either farm or business go to anybody else.
She’d only been at college one semester when, quite against her will, she got dragged out to a party in some of the woods surrounding the town by a classmate of hers. She had studying to do and a new horse to train and she really just didn’t want to go to the party. Once she got there, somebody handed her something fruity to drink and before she knew it she’d had at least four of them. When her world started to get a bit fuzzy, Lissa wondered seriously what had been in her drinks. The world being fuzzy or not didn’t stop Lissa from dancing with a very cute boy and the dancing lead to making out off in the shadows behind some trees a short distance from the rest of the group.
When Lissa woke up the next morning, tangled in a sleeping bag and the cute boy’s arms, she knew what had happened and while she was a little embarrassed that it had happened in such a public place she wasn’t in the least bit ashamed or disappointed in who it had been with. The only problem was, the boy had only been a foreign exchange student and was transferring back to his college in Ireland the next day. The party had been a going away party for him and Lissa would never see him again.
Four weeks later, Lissa was away at a horse show when she started to get ill. It started with a rash and quickly went to a fever and a horrible headache. Her parents finally decided to take her to a local hospital but before they could get there, Lissa made them pull over so she could get out of the truck to be sick. Only, she was more than sick. She was Changing. Her first Change happened along the side of a country road with her parents as witnesses. Her parents saw her through her Change and asked her questions in the morning which Lissa didn’t really have answers to. They were a bit freaked out the first few weeks after her Change, but Lissa was too so they never held it against her.
After her Change it took a long time for her and her parents to find a horse that would tolerate her, they finally had to buy one from a breeder on the west coast. Until they were able to find her a new horse though, Lissa threw herself into her studies and dealt with the Change whenever it took her.
It has now been a few years since her first Change and Lissa is once again riding, but she has learned to pick her friends a bit better. She was eventually approached by members of a local wolven pack but Lissa still hasn’t decided if she wants to be a permanent member of the pack or not but she does socialize with some of the members so she can learn more about the new side to her. The few people she does claim as friends now, aren’t wolven like her, but they aren’t exactly human either and while her parents may think they’re bad influences on her they are really the only people Lissa feels understand her and feels she fits with.
