Strange Species

“Did you see that really weird fox?”
“Oh ya mean the mutant raccoon, like what drunken night did its parents have?”
“I KNOW! It was sorta cute for a fox raccoon mutant though...” Two girls chatted back and forth as they walked across campus spreading gossip and speculation.

Kyou giggled from up in the tree. Those girls were so silly, firefox wasn’t a fox or a raccoon she was a red panda. Kyou was content to hang out in the upper most branches of the towering tree. She was sunbathing while lying back on the rough bark. Of course it should be noted the imp of a girl had taken off her bikini top and her cargo shorts so she wore only the bottom part of her bikini.

A cloud passed over the sun and Kyou pouted and looked off into the horizon noting that her sun time was going to be cut short. She placed her clothing back on if only because the last time she had forgotten she had been carted to jail and put into a cell without a very large window. One of her brothers had had to come bail her out and apologize on his 17 year old sister’s behalf.


She swung down from the tree and glanced around. Where should she go. Maybe she’d explore the campus no one seemed concerned with asking if she was a student or not. “WAI! Kyou knows where’s goes. Go see type science place. Maybe alls haves foods types Kyou can eat...” She spoke aloud hearing firefox growl in consent.

She took off. She ran to the science labs hand spring and flipping forward over the grass her flip flops threatening to fly away. On her next set of somersault one finally escaped flying high through the air.

Dustin walked towards the science building, nose buried in a book. He didn't bother navigating around the crowd, instead he let the crowd steer around him. He was busy absorbing information about the French Revolution for one of the history professors. He juggled that information with various theories for one of the science professors. And, in the back of his mind, lingered his newest idea. A book on the paranormal families of the northern United States.

Of course, he'd be laughed out of the academic circles...and killed if he didn't get permission from those families.

As he was quite distracted, he never noticed the girl twirling across the campus. Nor did he notice the shoe that went flying. Until it slapped into the back of his head. Dustin dropped everything. Books, bags, glasses and notes went flying as he spun this way and that, trying to figure out what had just attacked him. His right hand feeling for a non-existant machete as he crouched.

He wasn't that long out of a jungle where he'd been warned about the dart-weilding natives. When he saw the shoe, Dustin let out one shuddering breath and groaned. He'd made a fool out of himself over a shoe. He picked it up and looked around to see if anyone was missing footware. He saw the girl, one foot shod, in the distance. Groaning again because this would likely make him late for his meeting, Dustin gathered up his belongs, held the flip flop between thumb and forefinger, and marched across the green.

He stopped and waved the sandal at the girl. "Yours?" he asked.

Kyou giggled as she took off her other flip flop tucking it in her pocket and ran barefoot towards the man she had hit. "Yes alls is Kyou's. Wai! Wai! Kyou's sorry!" She apologized though didn't look remorseful in the least. She took her flipflop and placed it in her other pocket. She was quick to take some of what Dustin was holding as well if only as an apology.

Her tangle of red hair was messily braided back. "Hi, Kyou is Kyou who is you?" She asked lifting up the gathered items

She looked at the closest building "Was alls headed to science place? Kyou was too! Let's go! " And she began to skip towards the building while holding what she had pilfered from Dustin.

"So is alls types teacher or types student? Kyou's not either but no one seems to minds. Kyou wents did Asian studies near homes was fun got good honors types marks." she chattered. "Kyou's alls sorta types asians but types nots is Firefox that alls is Asian-likes yes. " she continued on.

Dustin adjusted his glasses as he glanced over the young woman who'd just kidnapped half of his materials. He couldn't quite figure out what she was. It took a moment but Dustin finally scrambled after her as she neared the building.

"I'm not a student or a teacher but rather a research assistent currently working for the science department. All of that stuff you have is for them." Dustin held the door open and directed Kyou towards the closest bank of elavtors. "I'm Dustin by the way and just who, or what, is this Firefox you're talking about?

Kyou skipped along merrily, acting like a kid hyped up on super sugar even though she was very obviously a grown woman. She quirked her head to the side to examine Dustin with wide blue eyes. "Wai so alls be types paper-getters? Is nots seems funs, but maybe alls gets runs lots back forth yes yes? So maybe is good job!" She noted, somehow able to find a way to warp any jobs 'work' into some sort of game or playful activity.

Kyou eyed the elevators, and Firefox gave a little growl of disapproval at the idea of being confined but Kyou had been in enough elevators to point out there was a roof hatch they could climb out of, and a whole big shaft thing to play monkey in and climb around in! "Wai, Firefox is alls types Red Pandas! And Kyou Firefox be Were-red panda! " She explained with a cheerful giggle. It was a good thing most already considered Kyou crazy because if they didn't most would have had her committed to some sort of institution for a revelation like that.

"Which button Which Button!!!!!!" She asked as she repeatedly pressed the magical elevator summoning button. If Dustin gave her the floor number she would continue inside the elevator hitting the target floor's button rapidly as well. At the end of the ride though Kyou would press all of the buttons before getting off. Never put a button in front of Kyou, especially one that was big and red.
