History
Jack was born an only child to Cooper and Ruby Williams, a magic user and a Shifter. He grew up in a small community that was pretty closed off from the outside world. Most of the people in town were like his parents in a way. Some were human magic users like them, some were Werecreatures of some sort, and others were vampires, angels or Custoss. The few “normals” in town were either completely oblivious or fully aware and associated with one of the Others.
When the opportunity came for Jack to go abroad for a school year, while he was in high school, he jumped on it. He loved his little community but honestly he was feeling smothered. Not only was he a teenager ready to get out on his own a bit, he was also one of the few kids his age in town with no powers to speak of and his classmates were beginning to give him a hard time for that. The only person who didn’t really tease him was his boyfriend Russell. Russell’s and his family were vampires and at one point they had offered to bite Jack to “end his isolation”. Jack had seriously considered the idea for a while, and if he hadn’t gotten the opportunity to go overseas he very well may have chosen to take their offer. Only Jack did go overseas, to a city strangely like the little town he’d just left, and Russell ended things with Jack because he couldn't bear to have the other boy so far away from him.
Cedar Valley, WA was full of Others and it seemed everywhere he looked there was somebody who wasn’t just plain human. They even had a school for their children separate from the regular population of the city and that was where Jack would be spending his junior year of high school. Considering things were so similar to back home, yet so different, Jack wasn’t sure how he’d fit in at his new school but he had high hopes. Most of his new classmates weren’t bad, in fact he made a few friends right away in the music department.
For some reason though, there were a few kids at his school that just took an instant dislike to him. Maybe it was his appearance, maybe it was the fact that he was openly gay, or maybe it was just that like at home he was a “normal” in an Other’s school. Whatever the reason, some of the seniors from his new school teamed up one day with some seniors from one of the other high schools and decided that he deserved a beating as he walked back to his host family’s house.
He was nearly unconscious when suddenly the boy who was sitting on his chest punching him went flying off of his chest. A semi-familiar face moved into his blurry vision and then was yanked away. Jack lay forgotten on the ground as the group of boys converged on the one that had come to his rescue. Sirens chirped almost immediately after and the boys all scattered except for the one that had come to his rescue, he came over and helped Jack up off the pavement and then helped him to a nearby bench. The afternoon with the cops would have been horrendous if Cole hadn’t stayed by his side but the older boy never left. Never even suggested he had to be somewhere else. At one point he did step away long enough to make a phone call, to his parents Jack guessed, but after that he stayed right with Jack.
Their friendship from that day on was instant. And shortly after that they slowly came to the joint conclusion that they were turning into something more than friends. By the time that Jack left the States to go home to Australia to finish up high school, the pair was committed to make their –very- long distance relationship work. And it did work, Cole went to visit once for a couple weeks, and they spent hours on webcam sessions with each other. As soon as Jack could start applying to colleges his first choice was the same one that Cole was going to and when he got his acceptance letter he nearly danced for joy.
