Tattoos: Ransom bears four tattoos. One of his mother and father’s clans on his right shoulder, one of Claudio’s family crest on his left shoulder, a chained rose on his upper back and Kai’s name across his heart.

Personality
Ransom has displayed three very different personalities. The Before, The After and The Now mark the different stages of his life and the different incarnations of his personality. The Before was when his Father, Thanos, still ruled the Magda clan. Back then, as both a consort and as a son of the Clan, Ransom loved life and attention and he loved to laugh. He had a very open and trusting personality. The After was when his younger half-brother, Lorcaine was in command of the clan. During this time, Ransom was very much a quiet and timid man for he knew that drawing attention to himself would bring pain and torture. The now has only been since Darius Delorme killed Lorcaine. He’s still very timid and reluctant to draw attention to himself but he’s no longer afraid of that attention. He’s starting to relearn what it means to love life, attention and laughter.

History
Ransom’s very birth was a problem for his father. Highly influenced by the culture of his mate, Satoshi, Thanos didn’t believe that the boy should be belittled simply because of his Ibrida heritage and that was the problem. While Thanos wouldn’t have minded making Ransom his heir, he knew that granting that inheritance to the boy would have caused a civil war within the clan. So, he made Ransom’s younger brother Lorcaine his hair and made the hard decision to make Ransom a consort to the clan.

Ransom didn’t learn about this decision until he was sixteen years of age. He spent the years between birth and sixteen running wild around the clan estate. From his father and step-father Satoshi, with secret training sessions since training an Ibrida to fight was considered illegal, Ransom learned how to defend himself. From Satoshi, he learned about poisons and the use of them.

He was a happy young man, content in his life, but he was shocked to learn that he would be sent away to be trained to be a consort. It wasn’t the idea of being a consort, for he’d learned from an early age what that would mean, but that he would be one and that would mean many of his dreams wouldn’t come true. Thanos sat down with him and talked to Ransom, explaining that he’d made this decision in order to protect Ransom.

By being a Consort, Ransom would be protected from those who saw him as a threat. As a consort, he would be an asset to the clan. Though scared and nervous, Ransom understood that this was for his own good. The night before he left for training, he sat with Satoshi and spoke about his fears. The older consort eased his fears.

Ransom went through the training and learned that with his personality, he was actually very fit for this life. His first partner, one whom he was with for more than a hundred years, was a close friend to his father. Like many of the other consorts, Ransom sparkled in his role. He lived his life and loved it. When his mother returned, Ransom learned that his love of horticulture was from her.

When his mother and step-father Satoshi had a child together, Ransom adored the little boy but couldn’t help but feel a little bit jealous. Redemption, his little brother, had been named Satoshi’s heir because the Alati from the East Asian countries didn’t care about Ibrida and so on. He soon got past that and found a new distraction. A very lovely and delicious looking attraction.

A young Roman Custos had joined the clan and shortly before Redemption had been born, that Custos was elevated to the rank of an officer. Ransom’s partner at the time was older and let the young Ibrida do what he wanted. What Ransom did was flirt heavily with Claudio, that young Roman Custos. He eventually just had to jump Claudio, with the full permission of his partner, before the Custos finally got it.

What had started as attraction quickly turned into love and Ransom asked his partner and his father if he could be attached to Claudio. His request was granted and it turned out that Claudio was actually his soul mate. The two were allowed to bond and Ransom thoroughly enjoyed life.

That life came to an abrupt and violent end four years after he and Claudio found each other. In 1485, Ransom’s younger brother Lorcaine overthrew his father and took over the clan. Lorcaine took all the consorts as captives and revoked any privileges that Thanos may have granted. Ransom was now property and little better than a whore in the eyes of Lorcaine. He allowed his men to make use of the consorts as they pleased. Claudio couldn’t allow his bonded mate to be treated like that and attacked. Lorcaine killed him in front of Ransom as a way of showing that his word was now law.

For the next 525 years, Ransom’s life was pure torture. Redemption, as he was legally part of the Oshiro clan, was free from Lorcaine’s control and spent those years freeing the consorts from the Magda house. Except Ransom. It wasn’t for lack of trying that Redemption wasn’t able to free his brother. Lorcaine kept a very tight leash on Ransom, knowing that his big brother could be used against him.

Over the five centuries, mental, physical, emotional and sexual abuse grew worse and worse. Ransom’s previous happy nature diminished and he became very timid and afraid of crowds. The worst of his tormenters was Lorcaine. He would often order his brother brought to his quarters and Ransom has never talk about what happened behind this doors.

Ransom found salvation when Lorcaine did the unthinkable and challenged Darius DeLorme, the Custos lord of Europe and King of the French region. The clan was destroyed by Darius and his troops. Ransom, along with a few of the men who’d remained loyal to his father, were rescued. He spent the first year living within the safe walls of Darius’ earth bound home. It was during that year that he met his mother’s family. A young woman married to one of Darius’ grandsons, spotted the family crest on his shoulder and recognized the portion from his mother’s side. That young woman, Faith, introduced him to Josif and the other members of the family. Ransom and his brother Redemption had the sad duty of telling Josif that his sister had passed away in the attack carried out by Lorcaine

He was then moved into the home of Wrath Serafin, another of his relations, and his wife, Cissa in order to learn how to live in the modern world. They taught him and even gave him a job working in the propagation house of Wrath’s garden and landscaping business. He grew more confident living with the recently married couple and their adopted son, Kai.

He grew confident enough that he eventually moved into his own place. He still visited Wrath and Cissa often over the next several years. In 2029, Ransom was shocked to the core when Kai, now 22, returned from college as a handsome man. And Ransom was very attracted to him.

Not that he didn’t act on that attraction until 2035 and he acted on it in a very big way. He and Kai are now a couple and Ransom is starting to remember what it means to be loved.
