Finn is a bit of a modern-day gypsy, and as such has taken a job that allows him to travel from one city to another all around the world. He is a social worker that tracks down runaways and helps with foster care/adoptions between states and internationally. He chose his job not only for the travel, but because he has been called to be a protector of the innocent. It’s rare that Mutari are called by a deity to serve, but Finn answered his calling when he was 16 and he has never looked back. He’s a very warm and caring guy with his friends, family, and the kids he works to protect. Anybody that does harm to those he cares about or those in his charge should prepare to run like hell because he won’t show an ounce of mercy.

History
Finn’s parents met when Declan was on an errand for his deity in Japan. Misaki was being held captive by a man in her village who had discovered her family’s secret. He wanted her all for his own and had been bedding her by force to try and conceive a kitsune son on her, cementing his claim to her and her family. Declan’s errand had nothing to do with Misaki but when he was walking through the village past the man’s house and she came running out in a panic and ran into him, her hair and clothes mussed, a welt growing on her cheek, a bloody lip and tears streaming down her cheeks he couldn’t look the other way. The man came barreling out of the house after her yelling obscenities at her while trying to secure his trousers and despite the poor girl hiding herself behind Declan, the man made the foolish move of trying to shove Declan out of his way. The trained warrior he was, Declan bodily taught the man a lesson in how not to treat another person. Especially a young girl barely old enough to be married.
Leaving the man in a bruised heap in the street, Declan collected Misaki in his arms and carried her to where she said her family lived. They were all grateful for their daughter/sister’s return and her parents immediately offered her to Declan by way of thanks for saving her. Declan refused. He informed them that he didn’t believe anybody should be given, like an object, as a gift or reward to somebody else. Feeling quite protective of the girl, however, he did ask her if she would like to come with him when his errand in Japan was finished. Seeing her hesitation, Declan told her that she didn’t have to if she didn’t want to, which caused Misaki to smile, thank him for his offer, and tell him that she would consider his offer.
During the time Declan was in Japan he made frequent visits to Misaki at her family home and he courted her properly. When his errand for his God was completed, Declan returned one last time to her family home and asked Misaki again if she would like to come with him. Her answer surprised Declan because while she did want to go with him, if she wasn’t going to go as a slave, then her father wanted to maintain her honor and have her married to Declan. He recovered from his surprise quickly and agreed to Misaki’s father’s terms and two days later they were married and on their way home to Ireland.
Instead of travelling through the interdimensional gates that most Alati and the few Mutari used when on their deities’ errands, Declan and Misaki only took one to leave Japan, as any other travel likely would have gotten Misaki killed for breaking the law, then they took the long way home sight-seeing along the way as a long extended honeymoon. Before they even reached Ireland Misaki came up pregnant at which point they finished their travels with one last jump through a gate home. Finn was born shortly after their return.
Days after Finn’s birth, Misaki became gravely ill. Unknown to Declan, Misaki, and the local healers the cause of her illness was a partially retained placenta which caused a massive infection in her uterus which then moved into her blood. By the time Declan took her to an Alati healer in service to Brigid who figured out the problem, the infection had done too much damage to her uterus causing scar tissue to form, but Declan’s healing Mutari blood was enough to wipe out the infection from her own blood.
After those first few weeks of his life while his mother was so ill, Finn’s life was pretty uneventful until he turned 16 at which time he felt himself drawn to something. He tried ignoring it for a day, but by sunset on the following day he found himself wandering somewhere he’d not planned to go and what he stumbled upon was appalling. It was a small country home with farm animals running loose everywhere. Except for the dogs, which were all gathered around something small on the ground. He didn’t know why, but Finn walked fearlessly toward the gathering of canines and shooed them all away despite the snarls and bared teeth and lunges from the beasts. He’d thought they had killed a chicken and were feasting, but what he found was a small naked infant. It was covered in blood and dirt and while it was silent from being weak, he could still see the rise and fall of the baby girl’s chest. The dogs hadn’t been eating something, they’d been protecting it.
Cautiously Finn picked up the infant, watching the dogs the entire time, and slowly made his way to the house. The scene that greeted him inside, turned Finn’s stomach inside out and he lost what felt like the past week’s worth of meals. The poor girl’s mother had been gutted, and she’d been taken from her belly by force. There was a man, Finn assumed the girl’s father, in a puddle of blood near the fireplace with a gaping wound in his throat from ear to ear. The house was tossed, clearly having been robbed. Finn had no idea who could have done this to a nice young family and in righteous anger he stormed out of the house. Calling the pack of dogs to him, Finn started to run back to his home. He did his best not to jostle the baby girl in his arms, knowing babies were fragile. When he reached his home Finn gave the girl to his mother and then left again, the pack of dogs still trailing him. He didn’t know where he was going but eventually one of the dogs caught on a scent and all of them leapt into a run after their prey, only going as fast as Finn could follow.
What happened to the trio of men who had caused so much death and destruction Finn doesn’t remember. All he truly remembers is that there was a lot of blood and that in the end the dogs feasted on their previous owners’ murderers. He blacked out at some point and when he awoke he was in the presence of the Goddess Caireen. He’d been Called, and he had Answered spectacularly. He has been dedicated to her service since and that was also how he got his first of many adopted siblings because it turned out that the young couple didn’t have any living family and his parents had always wanted more children.
Since that time, Finn has spent his years working both for his Goddess and also doing his best to make the world at least a little less unpleasant for the children that have wound up in his charge as a social worker. His cases tend to be the harder ones with all kinds of abuse and violence being visited upon the children and every now and then he needs to recharge at which point he will either travel to Ireland to visit with his parents and whatever stray kid(s) they may have taken in at the moment, or to Point Hope, Alaska to visit one of his many adopted sisters Chastity. She had come to the family much later in life than normal and their relationship was different than any of the ones Finn had with his other siblings. They were more best friends than siblings and as such they tended to be each other’s touchstone when things got hard for either of them.
