Two cars and a moving van drove through town, past the mall, the student apartments, and the college. Oliver sat in the passenger seat and looked at his new home city. It was small compared to Vancouver. No high-rise buildings, no china-town, no stadium, no coast; and no massive family village to go home to. He knew very few people, which was odd for him. He’d been heavily involved in Vancouver’s pack, and in his own family. Here, he knew the five people in the cars with him. He had a hard time not feeling like the Pack had exiled them here. He knew it wasn’t true. They had been chosen to begin a new pack; He still wasn’t sure how he was to go about this. Leave notes on message boards? “Hi! I’ve just moved in to start a pack! Please come to a pack meeting to discuss the details at the following date and time!” Sure, that would work real well.
Their first destination was on the south end of town, and a good ways up a mountain; His family had purchased him a bit of property: it included its own lake. The house wasn’t finished yet, or so he had been told. Knowing his Denfather’s taste, he guessed that ‘house’ was probably an understatement.
He was right. “Nice starting out place, eh Oly?” laughed Brian, his denbrother. “No half-measures from dad, eh? We should trade that silly hat of yours for a crown: he’s built you a castle!” Oliver shook his head, but could hardly dispute what he said. The house was enormous, and if he wasn’t mistaken, had 3 mini-towers.
“Ridiculous.” Oliver muttered with a smile and shoved his hands into the pockets of his blue navy over-coat. “And what’s so silly about my hat?” he asked; defensive of his brown newsie’s hat.
Two hours later, Oliver and Brian took one of the cars back out to town. He was eager to check out the university, and also see if they couldn’t make any contacts with Wolven in town. The Vancouver pack had given them some leads, but nothing too solid: a favored hang out, and a couple of names, including a professor at the college, and the owner of the eclectic hardware store.
They started at the University. Although Oliver had already been accepted, he wasn’t able to start his courses until the winter quarter; but he was eager to introduce himself to one of his future professors. His cell rang as Brian was parking the car. It was Raph, one of the scouts the pack had sent down to help out. “We’ve got all the stuff unloaded into the garage” which was the only finished enough structure to really do so “and Kally and Maris want to look around the property now; Is there anything you wanted Carl and I to do?” Carl was a warrior; Marisa another judge; and Kally was a hunter. Brian was also a scout.
It was weird being asked to make executive decisions. “Head into town, have a look around. Find the clubs, and parks, and a good restaurant for tonight. Oh, and locate the coffee shops. Keep your eyes open, eh? Give me a call back about the restaurant; We’ll meet up around 7 for dinner; Brian and I will go pick up the girls.”
“Can you make em pretty this time?” Raph responded, with a grin in his voice.
Oliver laughed, “Shall I pass your compliments on to Marisa then?”
“Only if you want a dead scout on your hands. Later, Oly.” He said, and hung up. Oliver sighed, and put his phone away. He hated that nickname. “Remind me to forbid anyone from calling me ‘Oly’ ever again,” he said to Brian as they made there way into the student center.
Brian chuckled, “Sure thing, Oly.”
“Original,” Oliver muttered dryly.
Inside the building, they found themselves at the top of a set of stairs. The area below them spread out, with an information desk and what seemed to be computer kiosks to the right and a bookstore and coffee shop on the left. There was a loung area beyond the coffee shop, where students were gathered into various groups: a group played a card game around a low circular table, another group was huddled around a lap top, and laughing; a piano was being played in the corner. On the far side of the building, big glass double doors led to the rest of the campus. Upstairs was a computer lab to the left, and closed office doors to the right.
“Why don’t you go get us some coffee,” Oliver suggested as they made their way down the stairs. “And I’ll go ask about Professor Kelly at the information desk.”
Meanwhile, across town, Raph and Carl parked their car on a street in the middle of town, outside an electronics store. “Lets take a walk, eh?” said Raph. “We’ll get some lunch and ask about parks…” Carl nodded. He wasn’t much of a talker. He did, however, have a photographic memory, and so was very useful to Raph; Besides which, Raph talked enough for three people.
“Excuse me, miss,” he said to a 30-something year old woman, “My friend and I were looking for a good place to have lunch. Do you have any suggestions?” His massive body and shocking blue-black hair, with yellow roots were diminished by his charming demeanor. Carl looked around in seeming distraction.
“Umm… well the Thai place around the corner is pretty good,” she said after a moment of thought. “Its called ‘Blue Ginger’” she finished.
“Thank you!” he said, with a slight bow and a smile. They continued walking. “So, how does Thai sound, mate?” he asked Carl. Carl grunted and shrugged. “Yah, I had it yesterday too. Well, good to know…” They continued on down the street; occasionally wandering into a shop, or Raph would stop people and ask them questions.
They bought hum bow for lunch and found out where the nearest decent sized park was, and started walking towards it…
(((OOC: descriptions are in order.
Oliver’s description can be found on his character sheet. He is wearing, as I said, a navy overcoat, a brown newsies hat, a green sweater over a long sleeve white polo shirt, and dark grey pants.
Brian is slightly taller than Oliver, lighter skinned, brown eyed, and brown haired. His hair is short, and unremarkable. He is thicker than Oliver as well. Slightly on the heavier side, but in a cute sort of way. He is wearing faded dark jeans, a grey sweater, and a black leather jacket.
Raphael (Raph) is big. He’s nearly 7 foot tall, and wide as a bus. Ok, not quite, but massive, and its muscle. His hair is dyed a blue-black color, but it’s grown out and is showing his blond roots. His hair is crazy and messy and poofy. He’s wearing a red tee-shirt and blue cargo pants.
Carl on the other hand is extremely short. Barely 5 foot, and walks with a limp, because one leg is shorter than the other one. Average build/weight for his size. He has short dirty-blond hair, and grey-blue eyes. He’s wearing jeans, a long sleeve light blue tee-shirt, and a black ski jacket. )))
