History
Tore, and his twin sister Taide, are the illegitimate children of Armand Craine, lord of Charred Forest Abbey and Rosabella Vespa, the descendent of the original owners of the abbey. Built in 1370 by the Monroe Clan of Scotland and originally named Charrington Abbey, the estate was gifted to Barclay Monroe on the occasion of his marriage to Sorcha Allen in 1654.
Not long after the 100th birthday of their daughter Rhona, the land was taken by the underhanded means of Armand Craine, a landless French Alati who’d fled to Scotland to escape the The Terror of 1793. Evicted from their family home, Barclay Monroe, his wife and child fled to friends who lived in Italy. Though homesick, they made a life living with the Vespa clan in the Tuscany region of Italy. Eventually, Rhona married a younger son of the Vespa clan, Dante. At this time, the Vespa clan was growing in power due to its connection to the Valerio clan – Carmine, a son of the Valerio clan, was the chosen of Mars and employed as the second-in-command of the deLorme Clan, a French clan whose leader was named the Overlord of Europe. Carmine’s mother, Alessia Valerio was the sister of Dante’s mother.
The marriage of Rhona and Dante produced a child, a daughter that was named Bellarosa. Charmed by her grandparents descriptions of Charrington Abbey, the young warrior vowed to reclaim the abbey for her family’s honor. She didn’t get her chance until the summer of 1991. The self-styled Lord Craine had just buried his most recent wife and was looking to find someone new. Bellarosa swallowed her pride and threw herself into the man’s path.
It worked like a charm to and by fall she was pregnant with his child. When he agreed to grant her a boon in return for the addition to his offspring, Bellarosa asked for the Abbey but he refused. On his refusal, she left and returned to the Vespa clan in Italy. There, she gave birth to a boy she named Tore and his twin sister, Taide. She thought to keep the children from Lord Caine but the shrewd man had a spy in the clan who reported the births. The spy, however, did not keep his head as Lord Carmine was not pleased to discover a spy in his extended father.
Since the spy perished not long after the birth, Lord Craine had little knowledge of his half-Italian offspring and mostly forget about him. Bellarosa did not forget about him and trained her children to be an unstoppable pair. She would use them to regain her family’s property in Scotland.
Tore developed a keen interest in weapons and his mother saw to it that he had all the tutors he could possibly want. At the age of twenty five, Tore was named a weapons master and taken into the service of Jupiter as one of his thirteen harbingers. His tutors also taught him an important lesson. Unlike his younger brother Vincent, he would not flaunt his status as a weapons master and instead cultivated a persona of being a bookish scholar.
At the age of 33, Tore and his sister Taide, hatched a plan to regain their mother’s property and it started with the death of Lord Craine. Taide, a genius with potions and poisons, posed as a maid in the house and ensured Lord Craine’s death by choking on a piece of poisoned beef. The now deceased man’s will had not stated a specific heir, instead he willed his land to whichever of his offspring could outlive the others. As the man had fathered 19 sons and 14 daughters, including the twins, there was a long list of people who needed to die.
Summoned for the reading of the will, Tore and Taide came to Charred Forest Abbey. Unlike their passel of half-siblings, the twins are fair in coloring and have better manners. Taking up residence in one of the estate’s gatehouses, the siblings are guarding each other’s backs while the Craine children started killing each other off. Now that the weaker ones are out of the picture, Tore and Taide are taking a more active approach to these killing games, waiting for the day that baby brother Vincent, another weapons master and the most fiercer opponent returns home.
