All of her babies were having babies. Bram and Lani. And if her babies weren't having their own babies, they were making goo-goo eyes at someone. Hawk and Ayda. Rayne and Liam. Hope was even engaged in a shy flirtation with a boy named Eli. She finally felt that she could win the world's best mother award but all of her children were grown.
She knew why she ran all those years ago. 20 years of being a mother when she was only 23 years old was a little much. First with Nerissa and Jade, followed by the rest and then her own children. Finding herself with four children under the age of four had bit just a bit overwhelming.
She wasn't old, only 41. Still a baby with the etheral beings. Now, she had the ability to be a mother. Everyone had told her to wait to be a mother. Her own mother hadn't even married until she'd past the 300 year mark. She could still have children, if she wanted.
Which is exactly what she'd been thinking lately.
Of course blurting this out at the dinner table, surrounded by her family, probably wasn't the smartest idea so she kept her mouth shut. Dion glanced towards the end of the table and smiled at Tobin. 20 odd years and she still couldn't get enough of the man.
Not to mention the fact that Tobin made an excellent father.
Dion fiddled with her fork. She supposed that asking Tobin if he wanted another baby was in order. After dinner, though, when it was just the two of them.
Later that night, when she was getting ready for bed, she asked him. Braced against the counter in the ensuite bathroom, she called out to her husband. "Hey, Tobin, what would you think about having another baby?"
Dion held her breath while she waited for Tobin's reponse.

Tobin was yet again playing another round of funny face making with Bram as he sat up in his highchair during dinner. The boy loved it, and Tobin couldn't get enough of his laugh, so he made faces, and sometimes fed the boy the more baby friendly food on his plate whenever he could get away with it. And since no one really could object much to their child being spoiled by grandpa, he got away with it quite often.
Tempest swatted him away from the boy and grumbled that grandpa was ruining his own chance to spoil his son. Tobin smiled, delcaring that it was his job and went back to his dinner. Any time he saw any of his grandchildren, including Lani, who wasn't technically blood related to him at all, he got little pangs of longing for the old days. The days when his own children were just babies.
Sometimes he wasn't sure if he wanted more grandchildren or simply more children of his own. He already knew Dion was all for more grandbabies, as she often bothered all of the children to have kids, but he wasn't so sure if she would be into the idea of having more of their own. They were certainly still young enough, by Custos and Angel standards.
Well after dinner, when Tobin and Dion were up their room preparing for bed, Tobin got his answer. He was lounging on the small couch in their room, reading a book and waiting for his wife to finish up in the bathroom, when he heard her ask what he thought about having another child. He wasn't quite sure he heard her correctly, so he shut the book and walked over to the bathroom, leaning on the door frame. "Did I hear that right?"
He walked into the bathroom to stand infront of Dion. "You want to have another baby? Really? Well... I believe the two of us think too much alike then." He smiled. "Why wouldn't I want to have another baby with my beautiful wife?"
((ooc - haha, Tobin's being a little suave, ne? Don't blame me.. it was his idea.. oh! and how does Aiden sound for the baby?))

Dion smiled up at Tobin. "You really mean that? You want another baby?" She didn't wait for an answer, she just leaped forward and hugged her husband. "I knew I married you for a reason but I swear, if you get my pregnant with triplets again, there will be pain." She loved her triplets but that pregnancy had not been fun...especially when she reached the point of being stuck on the couch unless someone levered her out of the sofa.
"Ah, Tobin? Can we keep this between ourselves for now?" Dion leaned against him, arms wrapped loosely around his waist. "I don't want to steal the attention away from anyone right now. I want a baby, not a family circling around me because I'm the center of attention."

Tobin braced himself, ready to catch Dion as she flung herself at him for a hug, He hugged back of course, chuckling at his wife's antics, but that all died down when she threatened him. How was he supposed to help that? Well, if he could he would damn well figure it out, because when Dion promised anyone pain, she meant it. He thought a silent prayer to Kannon to have mercy on him.
When Dion caught his attention again, wanting to keep their plans for a child between them he was a bit confused at first. Understanding came flooding to him when she mentioned -why- she didn't want anyone else to know, at least for now. He whole-heartedly agreed. He loved their family, but when they catch talk of babies on the wind they swarm, and he hadn't enjoyed that part much. "Of course. It can be our little secret. Though, you may run the risk of them being worse when they finally do find out, simply because we kept it from them all."

It had taken six months but they were finally waiting for the results. The take home test had said yes but now it was just waiting for the doctor's confirmation. She could have easily gone to Genesis but that would lead to her being the center of a family circus event. Every day Dion hurried out to the mailbox after the mailman left and riffled through the stack of envelopes.
She tossed bills and the like on the table and when she came across the evnvelope with the return address for the medical building, Dion surpressed a squeak and hurried up the stairs with the envelope. She'd wait for Tobin before she opened that.
That night, when it was just her and her husband, Dion pulled the evnvelope out. "Here it is, Tobin." She started to rip open the glued down flap when she noticed her shaking hands. She handed the white paper to Tobin. "Here, you open and read it."

Tobin was getting a little anxious. It had taken six months, and that was just to get a positive result on one of the take home tests. He found it annoyingly ironic that when they hadn't been trying to have children they were able to much quicker, and with triplets the first time. He shuddered to think what would happen to him if they had triplets again. Now all they had left to do was wait for the results from the hospital.
He had been watching with a smile on his face as Dion scampered out to the mailbox everyday to check for the results. He couldn't always catch it, but he usually cleaned up the aftermath of scattered bills and junk mail that she tossed onto the table. That day he had missed the mail carnage, and thought nothing was unusual about the rest of the mail scattered on the table.
Later that night, however, Dion presented him with an envelope. His eyes widened when he noticed the hospital's return address, and when he asked him to open it he gladly took it. He was a bit nervous, hoping the results turned out to be positive. He opened the letter, reading through it carefully to make sure he wasn't mistaken, but kept a neutral face. Once he had read it over thuroughly, however, he couldn't help the smile that spread across his face. He looked up at Dion before quickly collecting her for a hug. "It's positive!"

Dion held her breath while Tobin read the piece of paper. When he said that the test had been a definate positive, she let out a shriek and launched herself at Tobin to hug him. She over balanced him and they flopped down on the bed. As they bounced, she laughed. "We're gonna have a baby," she whispered in his ear and laid her head down on his chest. "I think that we are finally ready to be parents. We've gotten over out problems. I mean, the other four seem normal enough."
She knew that they'd had their problems but they'd finally worked around them. Dion hummed to herself while letting her hand play with the fabric of Tobin's shirt. This kid would have the best of everything. Not that her other children hadn't but this child would have her being a sane and normal mother who didn't run away. And she would have more help this time. She and Tobin had been overwhelmed with the triplets and, even with the help of her family, those three had been exhusting.
Dion rolled off Tobin and onto her back. She laughed again and placed her hands square on her belly. "Hey there, little one. I promise you that you will have the best childhood that I can give you. I'm not gonna leave you."

The hug he had been expecting turning into more of a pleased tackle as they fell back onto the bed, but he was too happy to care. Tobin had a beaming smile on his face as he wrapped his arms around Dion. He laughed lightly. "I sure hope we're finally ready to be parents. We've had four already, I'd say that's enough practice."
He was making light of their past problems a bit, he knew that, but as far as he was concerned, they had been worked out. The two of them had been young, and had both had their own individual problems when the triplets came along. At least they had their own kids to help them out this time.
Tobin released Dion as she rolled onto her back, smiling as she talked to the baby. He inched closer to lay against her side, placing his own hand over hers in reassurance. He kissed his wife on the cheek. "So what are our plans now? The family is going to start to notice eventually. We have a few months before that, but still."

Dion smirked. "We'll be sneaky. I can probably convince Genesis not to say anything." Her stepmother was just as bad as popping up unexpectedly, just like her father. Dion rolled onto her side and leaned against Tobin's chest. "If I don't say anything, they probably won't notice. They are all up in arms about Dream being pregnant and they'll ignore the obvious."
Dion sighed, content to stay right there next to her husband. Sooner or later, someone would notice. It probably won't be Saiyuri; she was to busy running after Lani and Thiery's boys. Faith was involved with Bram and plotting her revenge on the snooby mothers of the playgroup her son was part of. Everyone else was running around willy-nilly.
She tilted her head up to look at Tobin's chin. "Do you think it's a little early to start thinking about names?" she asked with a little giggle.
