L leaned over the side of the bed at the man sprawled on the floor of his bedroom. "Well, Puppy, that was graceful." L frowned when he noticed that Dominic had taken the bedding with him. He reached down and grabbed a fist full of sheets, tugging on them. "Give those back, Puppy. I don't have to work today and my head is killing me."
Once he had the sheets freed from his companion, L wrapped himself up in the jersey fabric and flopped down on the pillow Dominic had recently vacated. "So, are you just going to lay there or are you going to get back in this bed? It's cold." L stared down at his friend and grumbled when he stared.

Dominic was about to try and untangle himself from the sheets when L made a smart ass comment to which he answered, "Yes I know it was graceful, I --" He didn't finish his sentence because he realized just what L had called him; Puppy. He was going to ignore it since he half remembered L telling him he was cute as a lost puppy, but then the man called him that again.
Too confused and shocked at being called Puppy to fight him, Dominic let Lysander tug the sheets from around him and back up onto the bed. When L asked him if he was coming back to bed Dominic just stared. It took him a minute to grasp the concept that a man had asked him to come back to bed. Much like his wife had asked him all the time. What? He knew that L was at least interested in men but -he- certainly wasn't. Wasn't that obvious since he'd married a woman?
As L lay on the bed staring at him sprawled on the floor, Dominic began to get very self conscious and he couldn't help but look around for the rest of his clothes. At that point he was immensly grateful that however he had wound up in bed with L he had managed to keep his boxers. "Ummm," he said nervously, "uhh, were did my clothes go?" Now he was getting frantic. From his vantage place on the floor he couldn't see them anywhere and he really didn't want to get up and walk around the room for L's viewing pleasure as he searched for them.

L snuggled into the blankets, murmuring about how Dominic had kept them warm for him. When the younger man asked about his clothing, L cast his gaze around the room, shrugging when he saw no clothing. "I have no clue. I assume that Kris undressed us when Andy delivered us to the front door. She probably thought you were a new lover of mine. Or she just wanted to see you undressed."
L curled into a ball and then stretched out. "I bet she put your clothing in the washer but has yet to put it in the dryer. That what she always does with mine. So, Puppy, you should just climb back into this bed and wait for her to wake up and put them in the dryer."

Dominic was speechless. How was he supposed to respond to L so casually saying that his room mate probably thought of him as L's new lover? What was he supposed to do until his clothes got dried? He couldn't crawl in bed and cuddle up with the older vampire, that would just be too weird. But now that Lysander had taken all the blankets back he was getting really cold...
Goosebumps were starting to raise on Dominic's skin and despite his now natural ability to warm himself, he was too flustered to bother trying. If he were to try he would be likely to scorch the carpet or something. Instead, Dominic sat up and curled in on himself. He knew he looked rather pitiful but he couldn't help it. When his body gave a shiver, Dominic gave in to his instincts and asked L, "Can I borrow a shirt or something? Then I think I'll get more sleep." He was cold, and his head was pounding he realized. All he wanted to do was go back to sleep where it was warm and he could hide from the headache and nausea he was sure was coming.

L raised an eyebrow at the younger man on the floor. He was a keahi, for gods sake, couldn't he warm himself up? Groaning, L rolled off of his bed and, managing a more graceful landing then Dominic, padded over to the closet with the sheets still wrapped around his body.
He looked through the varity of shirts hanging in the narrow space, finally tugging a blue flannel one from a hanger and tossed it at Dominic. "That one is nice. Now, put it on and get back in that bed." he said while flopping down on the bed. He then grinned up at the younger man. "Don't worry, Dominic...I'm not going to do anything to you. Yet."
L sat up, kneeling on the edge of the bed and grinning at Dominic. He was going to take advantage of the man's rather befuddled state and explain a few things. "Lets get a few things straight, Dominic. Now that I've met you, I'm not going to leave you alone. I like you. Hell, I want you. Maybe even enough to break my normal vow of not getting serious." L grinned one last time and crawled back to the pillow, flinging a portion of the blanket out of Dominic and snuggling down into the pillow. "I also like the way you smell."

Watching as L climbed out of the bed, Dominic shivered again. When the older man pulled a blue flannel shirt out of the closet and tossed it at him he couldn't help but rub it between his finger, it was soft. He'd just started to slip the shirt on over his head and was listening to Lysander talk and he just about choked when he said he wouldn't do anything to him... Yet.
"Yet?" he squeaked and then he just stared up at the man on the bed in shock as he continued to talk. When L said he liked the way that Dominic smelled that was the last straw and he asked shakily, "Do you have a spare blanket? I'm going to go crash on the couch."
He was sure that L was a nice guy, hell he couldn't think of anybody he'd rather get drunk with at this point. Still, that didn't mean he was able to accept the thought of a man wanting him. The bed would likely be more comfortable but at this point the couch was sounding like a much better idea.

L snickered at the younger vampire, getting up again to haul one of the extra blankets out of the closet. "Scared ya, did I? Go head and crash on the living room couch. As I said, I won't do anything to you, yet."
L tossed the blanket at Dominic and pointed him in the direction of the living room before flopping back down on the couch.
L grumbled as the crate's lid popped off sooner then he thought, causing him to bash into the wooden box. "Damnit, that's the third time that's happened today," he muttered while levering the rest of the lid off. He motioned for the interns and they rushed forward, eage to fling the stuffing protecting the painting around the room. L set his crowbar down on the table and turned to his associate. "Well, Anna, thats the last one. Has a place been cleared for them in the Haggle Display Hall?"
When he got an affirmative answer, L picked up photographs of the paintings and left the archive room. He walked his way the hall and held the photos up against the wall to see how he wanted them arranged. Normally, this was the curiator's job but the man trusted L when it came to arranging the exhibits. He turned when he heard footsteps and grinned. It seemed that Dominic was coming to visit. L tilted his head and regarded the woman standing next to him. "Hello, Dominic. It's been a while, about week since we last saw each other."

As he pulled the car up to a parking spot, Dominic couldn't help but have his last "visit" with L replaying in his mind. Lost in the memory of curling up on the older vampire's couch wrapped in a blanket and shirt that smelled like the man, Dominic didn't hear his mother when she asked, "So why are we here again?" It took her two more repetitions of the question before he had the car parked and his mind back in the present.
"Oh, sorry Mom," Dominic said as he turned the car off and put it in park. "Hang on," he then said as he got out of the car and then hurried around to the other side to open the door for his mother. Once he had helped her out of the car and shut the door after her he gestured her toward the museum. As they made their way toward the big old building, Dominic cleared his throat and said casually, "My friend works here and you like art. I thought maybe I could introduce the two of you, I'm sure you'd hit it off." His smile that went with that statement was genuine but he really wasn't sure if that was the reason he'd come to the museum at all...
The sound of his and his mother's footsteps on the museum floor made Dominic flinch but when he saw L a short distance away he pointed him out to his mother. "Mom, that's Lysander, my friend." She looked at Dominic and then at the man he gestured at and nodded. It only took a minute before they reached the other man and once they did, L had already said hello. "Hey L," he answered politely. Then he continued after gesturing to the woman standing beside him, "This is my mother, Mom this is Lysander but he likes to be called L." Once introductions were finished he finally got to the point of their visit, "I wanted to bring my mother by the museum as she loves art and you know a lot more about it than I do. I was hoping that if you had the time you might be able to show her around?"

L grinned and swung his attention to the older woman. "I'd be glad to," L tugged the twoway walkie-talkie clipped to his belt free and spoke to his interns. "Okay, you idiots, you are on your own for a while. Anna, you're in charge."
L flipped off the walkie-talkie, reclipped it to his belt and held his arm out for Dominic's mother. "Now, Madame, what is your name? Dominic appears to have forgotten to mention it to me," L asked as he led the woman towards the viewing halls. "And what is your favorite style or artists?"

Dominic couldn't stop the faint blush that crept onto his cheeks as L pointed out his lapse in manners and cringed when his mother laughed and introduced herself. "My name is Carole, Lysander, thank you for asking. Dominic tends to forget not everybody calls me 'Mom' sometimes, he's always been that way." Carole knew her son was cringing and likely blushing but she didn't embarrass him by looking at him. Instead she followed where Lysander was leading her and answered his questions about her favorite styles and artists.
Almost two hours later, Dominic flopped into one of the chairs in the main lobby of the museum and waited while he watched his mother finish up her visit with L. He wasn't too surprised that the pair hit it off but just -how much- they hit it off was what surprised him. He had his head tilted back against the wall, his eyes closed and was trying to figure out what to do for dinner when he heard his mother beating him to it and his head jerked up and his eyes flew open. Had his mother just invited L to dinner at her house? Shit.
Carole had just finished scribbling down directions to her home and was handing it over to Lysander as she asked, "So when should I aim to have dinner ready? It takes maybe 30 minutes to get there from here if traffic is okay." She really did like Dominic's friend and she hoped her son didn't mind her inviting him to dinner. There was just something about the way Lysander treated her son that caught her attention though and she wanted more time to observe it. She just hoped he knew that Dominic had just gotten out of a marriage and was a father...

Lysander smiled at the older woman, tucking the directions to her home into his back pocket. "Give me about an hour and a half and I'll be there. I've just go to take care of a few more things here." He escorted Carole over to Dominic, grinning at the younger man. "So, Dominic, I guess I'll be seeing you for dinner. An d why didn't you tell me that your mother was such a wonderful lady. I'll let you to leave."
L tucked the bottle of red wine under one arm and set the bottle of white on the roof of his mustang while closing the door. He'd taken the time to pick up the bottles and to pull his tie and jacket off, tossing them into the backseat. Lysander picked up the second bottle and headed for the front door of the house. He rapped his knuckles against the door and waited for someone to answer.

The drive home from the museum was a quiet one with Dominic periodically glancing at his mother and resisting the urge to glare. Finally, when they pulled into her driveway, Dominic looked to his mother and asked grumpily, "Why couldn't you check with me first if he could come over for dinner?" He really didn't mind that L was coming over, he just wished he'd had a say in the decision.
Carole looked at her son and tried to read the strange expression on his face. After a moment of not being able to figure out what he was thinking she just answered, "He's your friend, I didn't think there would be any problem. Anyway, I'm allowed to socialize too even if I am your mother dear. He was a nice man with a similar interest as me, even if you hadn't been involved I likely would have at least invited him for coffee or something." Carole shrugged and smiled apologetically then got out of the car and headed inside leaving Dominic to sit and think for a moment before he followed her in.
*****
Dominic could smell the scents of heaven drifting from his mother's kitchen as he dozed on her couch and he couldn't have been more relaxed. The instant there was a knock on the door however, Dominic jumped and nearly fell off the couch. Luckily his vampire reflexes saved him from an embarrassing situation.
Quickly he got up and made his way to the front door and upon opening it wasn't the least bit surprised to see Lysander. He was a little surprised to see the bottles of wine though. Had his mother asked L to bring it or had L brought it on his own? Either way, L was at his mother's house for dinner and if he didn't invite him in his mother would likely yell at him about his bad manners. "Come on in, Mom is in the kitchen putting her last finishing touches on dinner."
That said, Dominic stepped aside and opened the door farther so L could come in. Once the older man was inside and Dominic had shut the door behind him, Dominic pointed down the small hallway toward the back of the house and said, "The kitchen is back there, that's where you'll find Mom. She'll tell you what to do with the wine." Then he headed back to the couch, it was the kind that swallowed you and it was beckoning Dominic to come take a nap.

Lysander couldn't resist the leer he sent towads Dominic as he passed through the door. "It seems as though you don't want me here, Puppy. Do you want me to be here?" Lysander toed off his shoes as it seemed to be a custom around the house and headed for the kitchen. In the kitchen he was directed by Carole to open the white and he did so after she handed him the wine opener. After opening the bottle and commenting on the food she was making, L retreated to the living room and to the couch that had claimed Dominic.
L perched himself on the arm of the couch and started down at Dominic. "So, do you want me here? Did you miss me? Did you even think about me since we last see each other, which was when you woke up in my bed. By the way, nothing happened, I talked to Andy and, according to him, we got ourselves completely trashed and he had to call Kris and drag us back to my place. It was Kris who undressed us and assumed we were something more then friends."
L looked down at Dominic and then slid down the arm until he was sitting at the edge of the couch. "So, did you even think about me?"

Dominic didn't have time to answer L's initial question before the older vampire had his shoes off and was headed back toward the kitchen. He had just started to doze again when he heard footsteps leading back through the hallway to the livingroom. He kept his eyes closed until he felt the couch move as L sat on the arm. When Lysander started talking, Dominic opened his eyes and watched him.
L's last question was if Dominic had even thought about him since he'd seen him last and the crazy answer that ran through his head was the last thing that Dominic wanted to voice. Instead he said groggily, "Yes I thought about you L, more than I am actually sure there was a reason for. I did miss you a bit too, and again I'm not sure why. As for wanting you here for dinner, it wasn't my idea but now that the initial shock that my mother invited you over is gone I have to admit I'm not dissappointed." With this, one side of Dominic's mouth quirked up in a smile.

L grinned at the younger vampire and patted him on the leg. "If I didn't believe differently, I'd say you were thrilled that I'm here, sitting with you on a couch." L leaned his head back against the couch and stared up at the ceiling. "Considering the fact that you don't seem to be completely repulsed by me, how would you feel about meeting up for another drink or two? Nothing like the last time. We were both in a bad place then."
When Carole called them into dinner, L pushed himself up off the couch and held out a hand for Dominic. After hauling Dominic off the couch, L wrapped a hand around Dominic's waist and held him tight. "What do you say, Dominic, will you see me again, outside of my work and your mother's home, when you know that I want you?"
L released Dominic when he heard Carole's footsteps nearing the living room. He turned and grinned at when she asked why they weren't in the kitchen for dinner yet. "Your son was stuck on the couch, I was just helping him up and we got tangled together. We'll be there in a minute."
L turned away from Dominic and headed the kitchen while asking Carole about where she got her decorator from and if he could steal said person from her.

L pretty much had Dominic pegged and that bothered him more than a little. Mostly because he couldn't figure out for the life of himself just why he liked the older vampire. How on earth was it possible that he did indeed want to see a man who had already professed he wanted him? And Dominic knew for a fact that Lysander didn't just want him as a friend. Yet he wanted to see him again... He was so confused....
When L hauled him up off the couch and wrapped his arm around Dominic's waist, Dominic nearly panicked. His mother could walk in at any moment! As if she had read his mind, his mother's footsteps sounded in the hall and before Dominic had a chance to answer L's question or tell him to let him go, L did just that. At the easy excuse L gave to his mother, Dominic just oggled the other man's back as he watched him walk away toward the kitchen. The man was a mystery!
*****
Dinner had been excellent, as it always was when his mother cooked, and Dominic couldn't believe how relaxed he was despite their company. L had behaved himself admirably all through dinner, never once mentioning or implying that Dominic had accidentally wound up in his bed a week ago. He hadn't even been overly touchy feely which Dominic had a sneaky feeling he normally would be if there wasn't an audience. Only a few lingering touches here and there when passing food or condiments.
As it was, the three of them were now sitting in Carole's livingroom sipping on the other bottle of wine L had brought. Apparently it was more of a desert wine anyway... Dominic was curled up on the couch, listening to and watching his mother and L chat away about their afternoon and her next visit to the museum. He had started the fire and the room was cozy and his belly was full and it was so hard for Dominic to keep his eyes open. Trying to wake up, Dominic yawned and stretched. As he stretched, Dominic's legs reached the other end of the couch and his feet brushed L's thighs. Being all warm and cozy and tired, Dominic didn't even bother to pull away.

L stiffened when he felt Dominic's toes brush against his thigh. The couch in Carole's living room was one of those extra long ones but still, did Dominic honestly expect him to not react when, no matter how accident, a pair of feet rested against his leg. L glanced down at Dominic's feet and then rested his hand on Dominic's leg, giving it a light squeeze.
Carole caught the move and had tow ork at keeping a blush from staining her face. She'd known that there was something between her son and his new friend. She took L's hand resting on her son's ankle as a sign to leave. "Well, I think that I'm going to call it a night. I don't have as much energy as the two of you. Now, I'll be right down the hall if either of you need anything. I expect both of you to behave and Dominic, don't forget to lock up before you leave."
L called a goodnight and a lovely to have met you to Carole as she walked down the hall. Until he heard no noise coming from the hallway, L contented himself by quietly rubbing small circles into Dominic's shin. Once he was sure that Carole was settled for the night, L turned his head to look at the dozing man on the other end of the couch. L spoke then, letting his voice drop an octave or two. "You're a tease, did you know that? I really should pay you back for doing that in front of your mother when you know how I feel about you. I'd very much like to pouce on you at the moment and take you for mine but I'm not going to. This is your mother's home and doing that would be disrespectful."
L didn't wait for a response from the other man, he just turned his body so that he was half-sitting on the couch, one leg tucked under the other. "Should I tease you back? I think I should."
L took his hand off Dominic's shin and placed it on his foot before sliding that hand up under the cuff of Dominic's jeans. He purred when he encountered warm flesh. "Did you really expect me to behave when we've been left alone?" He asked, in the same dark voice, as the tips of his fingers resumed rubbing circles into the flesh of Dominic's leg.

At the touch of L's hand squeezing his leg, Dominic was suddenly wide awake. What had he just gotten himself into?! When his mother made her excuses and wished the boys goodnight, Dominic wanted to cry and beg his mother to stay and protect him from L. She just didn't know what she was doing leaving him alone, and slightly tipsy, with the older vampire!
When Carole was settled and quiet, and Lysander turned his attention to him, Dominic just about panicked. At the words from L about being pounced, he nearly bolted. When L's hand slid up the leg of his jeans, that was just too much for Dominic's sensibilities to handle and he -did- bolt. And succeeded in falling in a graceless heap on the livingroom floor.... There had been a throw pillow on the floor where he'd tried to step, it had slipped and down he'd gone. "Ow! Shit!" Dominic cursed under his breath.
Just as he finished cursing, and had sat back up again, Dominic heard his mother call from her bedroom, "Is everything okay out there boys? I heard a loud crash..." Dominic cringed, he hadn't meant to disturb his mother, he'd just meant to save his own hide... When he heard Lysander reply, "Don't worry Carole, Dominic is fine, he just got tangled in the couch and slipped," Dominic glared at the older man. Maybe it was true but still, that was beside the point!
When his mother shouted back in answer though, Dominic bout hit the roof. "Ahh, okay then I won't worry. He's always been a bit of a clutz!" Grumbling under his breath about his traitorous mother, Dominic hauled himself to his feet and stood looking down on L. Confusion reigned supreme on his face as he looked at the other man, and it was accompanied by bits of worry, fear, and the teeniest bit of curiosity. Not that he would ever admit to the last bit though... Nope, never!

Lysander grinned up at Dominic. His reactions to teasing were always so much fun to witness. "That's the second time you've fallen off a piece of furnature in my prescences. Do I make you that nervous?" L stood and stretched, being sure to keep his eyes focused on Dominic. "I think that your mother had the right idea. It's time for me to go home and crawl into bed."
L reached out and grabbed Dominic by the wrist and dragged him over to the door where the light from a full moon shined through the windows at the front of the house. He pulled Dominic close, wrapped one arm around his waist and grinned. "You never answered my question from before dinner. Will I see you again? I'm at that same bar everynight after nine."
L grinned. "I know that you want to know more. You know that I want you. You are a very handsome man, Dominic, and I'm not in the habit of letting handsome things out of my life. We'll go slow, Dominic, but you can be sure that we will go somewhere. " L said and raised his free hand to stroke a finger down the side of Dominic's face. "You are beautiful in the moonlight. It makes your eyes glow."
L released Dominic to put his shoes on. When he straightened from fighting with the worn leather of his shoes, L plucked his keys from his pocket and glanced at Dominic. "Do you need a ride home? I wouldn't mind dropping you off."

The look of complete and utter confusion on Dominic's face never went away as L talked but his fears did calm a bit along with the worry and both were replaced by a growing amount of curiousity. When L grabbed him by the wrist and dragged him to the door, Dominic's throat choked up and he had to just listen as L continued to talk some more.
When L finally asked if he needed a ride home, Dominic had to swallow the nervous lump in his throat, after all Lysander had called him handsome and beautiful and had once again declared he wanted him. Once he could choke out the words Dominic answered in a scratchy voice, "That'd be nice, Mom drove me over."
Reaching back inside for his coat and shoes, Dominic closed and locked the door behind him as he stepped out onto the front porch. Pulling on his shoes and coat he then followed L down the steps and to his car, a gorgeous old mustang in a not so gorgeous shade of green. Oh well, vintage colors for a vintage car, who was he to be picky? As they walked up to the car, Dominic couldn't help but mumble to himself, "I'd love to take a look under the hood of this thing..."
The drive back to his house was non-eventful and neither of them spoke much. Dominic was too deep in thought and busy giving directions. When they finally pulled into the driveway of his uncle's Inn, and followed the turn-off to park in front of his little apartment above a garage Dominic turned to L and smiled warmly at him. "Thanks for the ride L, with as much wine as I've had tonight and as tired as I am I don't think it would have been good of me to drive." Then he opened the door and climbed out, he turned to shut the door and just before he did he popped his head back in and added, "And yes, the answer to your question is yes. Why do you really think I dragged my mother to the museum?" Then he winked playfully at L and shut the door. Completely and utterly shocked at what he'd just done, Dominic turned and bolted up the stairs to his doorway and rushed in, slamming the door behind him.
